What does it mean to understand something? We all want our students to understand the big concepts of our content. This kind of understanding isn't the low level of thinking on Bloom's Taxonomy but instead requires a deeper thinking. True understanding may require application, research, creativity, inquiry, evaluation, etc. Continuing to make connections between the knowledge of processes and skills and the bigger concepts is one way to create a classroom culture that supports personalized learning. Here are some other ways to support understanding in your classroom:

Canvas Corner

Did you know that you may share your documents with others or only yourself to use in a future course?

Sharing to the Commons Area

You can share assignments, modules, quizzes, pages, and discussions in Canvas to Commons.

Notes:The steps in this lesson are similar for sharing assignments, modules, quizzes, pages, or discussions. The differences include opening the feature from Course Navigation. These directions cover how to share an assignment.

Open Course

In Global Navigation, click the Courses link, then click the name of the course you want to share the assignment from.

Open Assignments

In Course Navigation, click the Assignments link.

There are two ways to get to a sharing button:

  1. Share via Assignments Index:To share an assignment from the Assignments Index Page, next to the assignment, click the Settings icon (gear wheel)then click the Share to Commons linkNote: If there is a rubric attached to the assignment, it will be shared to Commons as part of the assignment. The attached rubric will also be imported as part of the assignment.
  2. Share via Assignment Details- there is a blue button that allows the sharing there. You can also open the individual assignment to share to Commons. Click the Settings icon then click the Share to Commons link

Create Information - Title the assignment, describe it and add tags for searching(hit enter between new tags), choose a grade level and add an outcome, subject area and add a thumbnail image.

Choose Content License- Help me choose

Select your content license from the Copyright and Licenses drop-down menu.

Choose Sharing Option

When you are done, click on the blue Share to Commons button
