Please remember that report cards must be completed by 4:00 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, January 22nd. Anna will print report cards tomorrow and get them to you by the end of the day for review. Teacher should review, sign, and 'stuff' the report cards in the provided report card envelopes. If you need duplicate report cards printed, please let Anna know right away which students you need duplicates for.
NWEA Assessment
This week we will complete NWEA MAP assessments for Reading and Math in the library following the schedule below. Please remember that parapros will be assisting in the library for the assessments through next Monday, so you will want to plan accordingly for your Reader's Workshop.

Thomson Trading Post Kick-off Week!
As you know the behavior committee decided to hold the launch of the Trading Post until second semester...well the time is here! Last week, Christine Grech and I worked with four of our Early 5's students from last year to create a short (2 1/2 minute) video introducing the Trading Post. Please take some time to show the video to your class prior to Friday. This will introduce them to the Trading Post prior to bringing them down on Friday. The video is in the link below and will also be shared through email. If you have any questions please see a member of the Behavior Committee or me.

Spending Cut-off
Each year the district cuts off spending from school accounts in February in order to begin the budget process. For teachers this means that you will not have access to your classroom General Fund account money (if you have any left) after January 31st. This also includes Science Supply orders. If there are items that you will need later in the year but do not want to purchase now, you need to fill-out a P.O. and turn it in. The P.O. will 'hold' the money. I will be working in February on building level purchases, including 'big ticket' items that you may need/want for your classroom. So, if there is something you need, please let me know right away. Please note that the spending cut-off does not apply to your PTO/A-74 account. Again, if you have any questions, please see me.
Cardinal Code Focus for the Week: Hallways
Please take some time to review the entire Cardinal Code Lesson for the Hallway. Some key points to remember and reteach are:
- Walking hip & lip
- Hip & lip, means you are not talking to your friends while walking
- Eyes forward so you can be sure to give personal space.
- Ensure that there are no big gaps.
Quotes Worth Reading
"If you're struggling with kids who have bad attitudes with you, remember that YOU are their safe space. You are their mental dumping ground. You are where they feel most comfortable showing vulnerability, frustration, anger, and sadness. Armor up for them, stay strong, and fight the battles together."
-Grown & Flown
I read this quote on Facebook and thought of some of our students who challenge us the most or are in states of crisis on a regular basis. It is important to remember that their is a reason they 'show us' this side. As hard as the days can be and as frustrating and sad as it is for us as adults, these kids need us and we are their safe space. On your worst day, don't forget that and also don't forget that you have a Thomson Team that is here to support you!
