About Yosemite National Park
Yosemite National Park is located in Sierra Nevada, California. California is located in the western part of the United States. The weather in Yosemite National Park is dry in the summer and fall. The temperature in the summer can get up to 100ºF. In the winter, up to 5 feet of snow can fall. Grizzly Giant is a Sequoia tree in the park that is over 3,000 years old. The Half Dome is a giant granite landform that many visitors enjoy hiking and climbing.

How Yosemite Valley was Formed:
Most of the landforms in Yosemite National Park are made out of granite. They were formed over 100 million years ago. Yosemite Valley was formed by Glaciers. Glaciers are large blocks of ice that move slowly across land. In Yosemite glaciers smoothed mountains and the granite surfaces. They also push rocks and dirt into large pieces. These piles are called moraines. That is how the Yosemite Valley was formed.
