If a student has lost their ID Badge, please replace it in the front office (it does cost money to replace an ID Badge).
If a student has forgotten their ID Badge, the consequence is last in line at lunch and no Snack Bar.

Science
Hello Thunderhawks!
Next week, we begin our unit on Energy Transfer. This unit has a lot of labs, which is always exciting to the students! Students will investigate how and why energy is transferred from one substance to another.
Students took a test on 9/8/2022, if students want to redo it, they need to ask their teacher for a Request to Redo Form. Students must complete it and have a parent or guardian sign it, then return it to their teacher in order to schedule a redo.

English
Welcome back from the long weekend! This week will be dedicated to our “Eleven” presentations. Each student will use their completed “Eleven” slides to share the traits that they would like to carry with them as they move forward, and the traits that they would like to leave behind. As we move into next week, we will continue with our “Making Your Voice Heard” unit as we begin our reading of Colin Powell’s memoir and biography.

Next, students will work in groups to read a short story and identify the different plot elements. Finally, students will work independently to choose plot elements for short animated clips. Geography
Hello Thunderhawk families! This week in Geography we will be covering the historical impact of 9/11 on the United States. This is a tough topic to discuss, but it is an important event for our 6th graders to be aware of. We will also be diving head on into practicing our writing skills in Geography. Students will work on finding the claim and evidence that supports the claim in various historical and fun reading passages. As always, reach out if you have any questions!

Message from 6th Grade Principal
Hello Thunderhawk Families!
We had a great short week here at Heartland. This semester always goes by very fast. We are noticing an increase in missing assignments. Please help your child to navigate Infinite Campus and ensure they have their work turned in. We love to see students advocating for themselves, so please encourage students with missing assignments to reach out to their teachers!
On Friday, we had a great time singing and dancing with Officer Brooks in the courtyard! Beats by Brooks are always a highlight of the week!
This past week was our first week of Hawk Hangout. It was awesome seeing students engage in different activities. I saw students dancing, playing card games, bingo, coloring and so much more!
In order to spread awareness, this next week we will have dress up days and students will receive mini lessons throughout the week about “Think Before You Post.” This is an important message for all students with the implementation of technology and the digital footprint that each student has. I’m looking forward to another wonderful week at Heartland.
