A Message from Dr. Frischkorn
October is Bullying Prevention Month. I want to share a message that it is important that parents, teachers, administrators and students work together to identify bullying within school and the community. Parents, school staff, and other adults in the community can help kids prevent bullying by talking about it, building a safe school environment, and creating a community-wide bullying prevention strategy.
At Mayfield we are doing several things to help prevent bullying. We have our Bobcat Block every morning from 7:15 to 7:47 and our staff and students work on social emotional learning skills. Students participate in morning circles that helps build a caring community within the classroom. We encourage our students in the hallways to greet their peers and other adults in a friendly manner. We have a great school counseling group that meets regularly with students to help students address typical peer to peer interactions for this age group. Finally, we have a great group of educators who are focused on teaching the whole child. We believe that academics and social emotional learning are equally important and we emphasize both throughout the year.
If you would like additional resources to discuss Bullying Prevention Month with your child please look at these websites:

The next club that is starting will be our Anime club and it will be sponsored by Mrs. Hammad. Permission forms to sign up went home with students in the Friday folders.
When the clubs begin to organize we will be making announcements on the morning announcements and we will also include information in our Mayfield Messenger.
