Irons Jr. High Newsletter
We Are Hawks!
April 12, 2022
Irons Family,
I hope everyone has enjoyed the school year as much as I have. Things have not been as normal as in pre-covid days, but we have all learned to excel in this changing world. We all learned a lot about teaching and learning over the past two years!! As for Irons, we are in our home stretch. Soccer, tennis, and golf are in full swing, and before you know it, STAAR and Final exams will arrive. I encourage all students to attend school daily as we know that attendance is one of the leading factors for success in school.
We have quite a few updates in the newsletter this month, so please take the time to give it a read.
Congratulations to the Irons Concert Band I and Symphonic Band for earning all Superior Ratings at the UIL Concert and Sight reading Evaluation. Irons was one of 4 junior high schools in our region to have more than one band compete and have all of them receive 1s from every judge. Mr. D and Ms. Gentry are very proud of the students for their excellent performances and a great representation of Irons Junior High. The judges were very complimentary of the Irons Bands, saying:
"Congratulations to you on a stellar performance!"
"Enjoyed this! CONGRATULATIONS!"
"Really enjoyed your performance – keep up the great work. Congratulations to directors and students."
"Great performance/concert today! I enjoyed your selections today!"
Thank you, parents, students, and staff, for your support of the Irons Band!
On March 8th and 9th, all Irons choirs participated in UIL Concert and Sight reading Contest. Our three choirs received straight 1's from all six judges and brought home Sweepstakes trophies! I am proud of every student who performed and represented our school so well.
