After School Dance Group
By: Maria Castillo
On Mondays and Wednesdays at 3:15 p.m., Ms. Jenna Brandon, a teacher at Zapata Academy holds an after school dance group. This year only girls chose to join, although it is open to boys and girls. During dance, we first start out with stretching our bodies to make the dance movements as swift as possible after we change into comfortable dance attire. After that, we practice leaping across the gym floor, and spend the rest of the time perfecting our dance moves; these include ballet, electronic, hip-hop, pop, indie, and many more. Occasionally we practice our dance moves to have a small performance for ourselves, and once a year, we practice for the school's Spring Assembly. This activity helps with being physically fit, explore different music and dances, and just to meet new people and make friends as we help one another with the dance moves.
