Cougar Community Connection
A weekly newsletter from your principal, Shannon McPherson
First and foremost, thank you for an amazing start to our Fun Run, our ONE AND ONLY whole school fund raiser for this year. We have already raised well over 10,000 dollars for our sweet little school and we are so excited to see what is still to come. The programing and personnel that we are able to afford with your additional help to our school funding, allows us to provide amazing opportunities for our students. From the INSANE engineering digital programming that our new tech teacher, Mr. Barnes, is planning to provide through robotics, to having the only elementary music program with actual guitars, keyboards and ukuleles for our students to learn and play, we couldn't be more pumped to be able to offer these programs for our students with your generosity and help. This weekend is a great opportunity for your kids to get out and fund raise. I have seen some super creative videos from students who are sending these personal messages out to their friends and family to ask for donations for our Fun Run. The sky is the limit so thank you for helping your kids help us meet our goal of 175 dollars per student. Enjoy the weekend and we will see you Monday.

Spotlight on~ Our Amazing Office Team
Parent/Teacher Conference Week September 18-21
Parent-Teacher conferences are an opportunity to celebrate our kids and establish strong partnerships to support their academic and social/emotional growth. Please sign up with your child's teacher for a conference to review the progress that your child is making at Cougar Run. Please keep in mind that our teachers have many families to schedule, so we are asking for you to only sign up for only one conference spot for each child you have. We have many students who live in two households, so please work with the other parent to schedule at a time that works for you both. We can accommodate with virtual conferences too if that makes our split households more comfortable, that works, too.

Why Does Attendance Matter?
A note from our office team
Have you completed your Express Check In? This is the best way to ensure that your contact information, emergency contacts and your child’s health concerns are up to date for school staff.
Through Express Check In, you will be guided to My School Bucks, where you can pay your student’s yearly school fees which were assessed to each child’s account in July. Please note that as field trips and other activities occur through the year, these will be added prior to those activities and are not reflected currently as a fee. However, you will also see any fees that are past due.
We continue to encourage all families to fill out their FREE and REDUCED applications as it allows them to get school/bus fees waived and ties directly to our school/District funding.
This benefit is so much more than a free lunch.
