A Note from our president
Awesome 2017 Season 'Cudas! So proud of the hard work that all the swimmers put in the pool and the final season results are proof that our Bridgeland Barracudas are #1!
While our ‘Cudas went undefeated this season, unfortunately we did have one issue that arose last week that I want to publicly address and correct as team President.
As I mentioned during our awards ceremony, the Northwest Aquatic League (NWAL) required all teams to migrate over to a new software platform (swimteam.us) for running our swim meets. While as a team, we have communicated to them that we believe that the new platform is incomplete and needs further refinement, we pressed forward and were able to work around many of the system issues. However, one area that was communicated to NWAL regarding the new software system, that presented challenges was in regards to the system’s reporting capability.
It is unfortunate, but the reports produced for our High Points winners this season were not correct. Bottom line, the reports inadvertently included points from the mid-season invitational meets (Splash Depot and Summer Thunder) and therefore did not identify the correct 2017 season High Points winners which affected four total swimmers on the team. To clarify how our High Points winners are tallied, we take the collective points that a swimmer earns from all of our dual meets and our Championship (Divisional) meet and add them together to determine those male/female swimmers for each age group with the highest number of points earned. We discovered the error after the End of Season Awards ceremony and I personally apologize for the confusion and the lack of opportunity for those four swimmers to be properly recognized. We take this seriously and are taking steps to correct it.
I have been able to speak to most of the parents of the a small number of our swimmers affected and we, as a Board, are going to take two key actions to correct:
- All High Points winners will be posted on the team website with actual final season points totals from all 2017 Dual meets and the Championship (Divisional) meet correctly reflected with corrected points totals. We are required, by NWAL rules, to protect our swimmers names behind a password protected website, so we cannot post those names in our newsletter here.
- The actual High Points winners will receive their rightful High Points trophies for their outstanding efforts this 2017 season.
I again want to apologize for the mix-up and, more importantly, I want to congratulate all of our 2017 High Points winners! We have a phenomenal team and these swimmers are the very best of the best!
Go Cudas!

Coaches Corner
Cudas,
I will keep this final coaches corner short and sweet. A final congratulations to you and all of your achievements. We finished our last invitationals meets for the season. Of course, many of our swimmers walked away with even more time drops, ribbons and medals. Also, the Cuda Nation also walked away with another piece of hardware. That's right, we placed 2nd overall team trophy for the Red White and Blue Invitationals. Hats off to all of you and your hard work!
This season has flown by and you all have by far exceeded my expectations. Thank you for your commitment, hard work and dedication over the season. I hope you all have a safe and wonderful summer and school year. I hope to see you all next season, a little bit older and wiser, and ready to get back in the pool!
Go Cudas!
Stay Safe and Swim Happy,
