Tejeda News
Week of May 8, 2023
Dear Tejeda Timberwolves,
What an exciting week diving into the month of May! Our T-Wolves did fantastic with the three days of STAAR exams and we look forward to receiving STAAR data this summer. This week we celebrated National Teacher Appreciation Week and we are grateful for the dedication from our Pack Leaders. I thank PTA and everyone who has contributed to showering our Tejeda staff with appreciation this week!
This week in the Den we will be celebrating National School Nurse Day on Wednesday, May 10th. Please consider calling or sending an email to Nurse Shannon Pretli and Clinic Assistant Jennifer Harron. Together, they make up a dynamic duo in our school clinic to keep our students healthy! Thank you to them for their hard work!
The Lady Timberwolf soccer teams played the Bradley Bears on May 4th. The 7th grade girls won 3-0, and the 8th grade girls ended in a 0-0 tie! Great effort ladies! Tejeda 7th grade Boys Soccer won over Bradley,1-0, with the winning goal by Ethan Joshua. 8th grade Boys Soccer tied Bradley, 0-0.
If you need anything, please do not hesitate to contact me at 210-356-5600 or reach out to any member of my leadership team. I have included my team’s email addresses and office phone numbers in the information below in this newsletter. Please look out for the next smore on May 13th.
Thank you for your time and I appreciate you choosing NEISD and Tejeda Middle School for your student’s educational experience!

Teachers have finalized grades for the 9 Weeks progress report. All the reports were posted electronically to Family Access and Students Access accounts. If your family does not have a family access account, they can alternatively get the report through their child’s student access account. If your family selected a paper copy of the progress report, it was sent home on May 5th.
Yearbooks Have Arrived – Distribution Information:
The Yearbooks have officially been delivered to campus! 8th graders who have purchased a yearbook will be able to attend a special 8th grade signing distribution on May 8th during 7th period in the cafeteria. Students will need their proof of purchase ticket to collect their book. The tickets were distributed to their 2nd Period teacher on Friday, May 5th.
Distribution for 6th and 7th graders will begin May 9th and they will be called down to room B138 during 7th Period. They will also need to have their ticket on hand to collect a yearbook.
We still have 60 books for sale before we sell out for the year so make sure to get yours ASAP! If your student does not receive a ticket and you feel this is in error, please contact Mr. White at aambri@neisd.net. We look forward to sharing the memories with you!
New course for Rising 7th & 8th Grade Students:
Rising 7th and 8th grade students will have a new elective option. We are fortunate to offer a new elective course for our students for the 2023-2024 school year. The course is an opportunity for our T-Wolves to continue their pathway of technology during their middle school years. Incoming 7th and 8th grade students can add our new course, Principles of Art, A/V and Communications, as one of their choice electives. Principles of Art, A/V and Communications develops a keen proficiency in oral and written communication while using their strong background in computer and technology applications. The student will use skills while completing Arts, Audio/Video Technology and Communication projects. Students are expected to use the internet, writing, publishing software, presentation software in addition to spreadsheets or other database programs in this class.
This is a full year course. If your child is interested in taking this course for the 2023-2024 school year, complete the google form. The seats for this course are limited, so act fast. Please share this information with your child and if they are interested in taking this course, please complete the Request for Principles of Art, A/V and Communications Google Form. https://forms.gle/ayV89Z5sdFbSGmYG7
Stop The Bleed Student Training:
As part of the requirement of Texas Education Code 38.030, North East ISD is offering students in 7th-12th grades the opportunity to learn bleeding control techniques. This training includes the Stop the Bleed instructional information and how to use bleeding control kits, which are placed on NEISD campuses for use in case of emergency. Parents/guardians can view the Stop the Bleed video (attached) with your child. This video teaches people how to respond to various life-threatening bleeding emergencies. Stop the Bleed student video
After watching the video, parents/guardians may choose whether to have their child attend an in-person, hands-on, Stop the Bleed skills demonstration with our school nurse. Students will practice applying pressure, wound packing, and applying a tourniquet. Students must provide a signed permission form to the school nurse to attend. These trainings will be offered May 5th, May 12th, and May 19th from 7:55 a.m. - 8:15 a.m. Each session is limited to 10 students due to the hands-on nature of the demonstration. If you would like your child to participate in the in-person skills demonstration, please fill out and sign the attached permission form and return it to Nurse Shannon Pretli. Stop the Bleed student permission form
5/24 8th Grade End of the Year Celebration:
Tejeda Middle School is working with PTA to provide 8th Grade Students with a celebration at the NEISD Sports Park on Wednesday, May 24th. To participate, all students will need to fill out permission slip and have it turned in by Friday, May 19th no later than 4:15 p.m. Students must be passing all classes for the 4th 9-weeks by May 22nd and cannot have loss of attendance credit for the school year. Any students assigned In School Suspension or Off Campus Suspension from May 1st to May 24th will be unable to participate in this event.

5/30 Deadline for Skyward Course Request Changes:
Please make sure to check your child’s Course Requests in Skyward to ensure classes chosen as course requests and alternates are what they would like. Students should have English, Math, Science, Social Studies, PE or Athletics, and 3 electives under My Requests. Then, at least two alternate electives should be listed under the tab when you click on Alternates. Remember, that all students will get 3 electives this upcoming school year, unless they need a math or reading acceleration class due to not passing STAAR.
Please remember that these are a student’s course REQUESTS. Actual schedules will not be finalized and viewable in Skyward until August. While we do our best to provide students with their first three elective choices, alternate electives may be used if there is no class availability. Should you want to change your student’s course requests, the student or parent may email their grade level counselor. Current 6th and 7th graders should email Mrs. White or Dr. Martinez. Current 8th graders must email their high school counselor listed on the high school’s webpage. The last day to request a change in course requests is Tuesday, May 30, 2023. Due to staffing allocations, this is a firm deadline.

Gentle & Helpful Reminders:
School Choice Window is Open:
It is School Choice time again! Online applications are available for submission until July 28th. Applications are only accepted for students entering into K-12 in the upcoming school year. Parents with students who are “New to the District” can apply for both the current school year and the 2023-2024 school year. (Ex: A family of 3 must submit 3 separate School Choice forms, 1 for each child.)
Families will receive an official email notification the 3rd week of May regarding the status of the student choice request. If you have any questions, please call Tejeda’s Data Processor, Mrs. Laura Lara at 210-356-5621.
