College Colors Day at BMS
Friday, August 30, 2019, is College Colors Day in the state of Alabama and across the nation. On this day, people are encouraged to wear their favorite college or university's colors throughout the day. The day is celebrated every year as the honorary start of the school year and college football season, and Governor Ivey makes an official proclamation recognizing the day.
At Berry, we celebrate the day by inviting students and teachers to wear the colors, t-shirts, or jerseys of their favorite college teams. Teachers and staff members also use the day as an opportunity to talk about college life and encourage students to explore college options. Dr. Robbins reminds us that College Colors Day can be so much more than just a “dress-up” day at Berry. He says, "This is a GREAT opportunity to bring the future just a bit closer and inspire kids to think ahead and set goals."

Career Speakers Needed
Career Speakers--Parent Volunteer Opportunity: The Berry counselors are looking for parents who are willing to speak one morning during the year about their career. Middle schoolers love to hear and think about what they might do in their futures. Thank you for considering and for sharing your time and expertise with our students! Volunteers speak for about 45 minutes (8:15 to 9:00) to a group of about 30 to 40 students. Please e-mail your grade level counselor if you are interested in serving as a career speaker.

Applications will only be given out at the meetings. Any student absent both days should see their grade level counselor as soon as they return to school.
