McIntire Elementary School
Mission: High Levels of Learning for ALL!
~ Out and About at McIntire ~
1st Grade - First graders are working on comparing math equations. They solve two sides of a math equation and decide if it is true or false. EX: 4 + 5 = 3 + 6 is true; They have to be able to add, subtract, and compare!
2nd Grade - Second graders have been starting their mornings and using their indoor recesses to build, create, and play. Playing games allows children to use their creativity while developing their imagination, dexterity, and physical, cognitive, and emotional strength.
3rd Grade - Third graders are working on researching for their Famous Missourian projects.
4th Grade - These kiddos read ALL. THE. TIME. They can be caught reading in forts. Reading during free time. Reading while walking to their buses. Some favorites are graphic novels. We live in a visual society and children are drawn to visual media. Did you know that there's a Pride and Prejudice graphic novel? Or that popular Shakespearean plays have been adapted into graphic novels?
5th Grade - Our fifth graders are working on a program called JA BizTown. This combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to a simulated town. They learn how to operate banks, manage restaurants, write checks, and vote for mayor. The program helps students connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world.
We can finally announce this to the public!
McIntire Elementary School is one of 10 Missouri schools that continue to maintain the implementation of Professional Learning Communities (PLC) standards which are being honored as Sustaining Exemplary Professional Learning Communities Schools. McIntire staff collaboratively prepared a narrative describing how we have sustained practices since our original Exemplary designation in 2016. We shared specific data to show that student achievement has either been maintained at a high level or grown since the implementation of PLC practices.
Thank you to all our families, staff, students, past & present who helped us grow! We appreciate you.
