Dear Hoover Families,

Greetings from hoover! I hope everyone is being safe, the weather seems to be changing a bit, and the first hints of autumn and colder weather are finally moving in! As we get into these colder weather, pls ensure that your children are wearing warm clothing, and a friendly reminder that sweater, sweatshirts or any other jacket, must comply with school's dress code (black, grey, dark grey, white). If the weather gets to be a bit sunny at noon, please remind your child the sweater in her/his backpack. Lost and found clothing will be placed outside this week or next, so parents can go through them and collect them.

Many students have been asking me about free dress day, and here is the answer to that. Free Dress Day is always the last day of the month, regardless of it falls on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc.

Reminder that October has been designated "Attendance Awareness Month"!

Thank you parents for making sure that your students are attending school daily and on time. I know that the quality education that they are receiving at Hoover will help them achieve their goals at school and beyond! I am happy to report that we have excellent attendance in September, I know that this will be even better in October!

Latinos and education in the National Hispanic Month

Here are some positive trends about education in the Latino community:

• Over the past decade, the Hispanic high school dropout rate has dropped dramatically.
• Hispanics are making big inroads in college enrollment.
• Hispanics still lag other groups in obtaining a four-year degree, but our numbers are getting better!

These are all positive signs that the Latino community in general lends great importance to the topic of education. As we all know education is the great equalizer. Education provides the roadmap to the pathway of success, and that pathway begins now! Go Huskies!

I-Ready Assessments continue! We continue to administer the I-ready diagnostic tests to grades one through eighth. It is imperative for your child is here daily and on time. This assessment will provide teachers with an excellent starting point to determine the best ways to support all students and customize a learning path for progress.

Make sure your child gets a good breakfast

Be sure to speak to your child about doing their best on the test. This assessment is adaptive and will be adjusted to your child's level.

Office Hours

Our school office continue to serve the public from Monday through Friday from 8-4pm. Between 8-9am and 2-3pm, we receive a higher volume of calls and visitors in the office, so we thank you for your patience as we help others. if you cannot connect, please call us back, or leave a message. If you need to report an absence, pls leave a message in the main voice mail with your child's name, teacher and or classroom and grade.

¡Saludos! Espero que todos se encuentren bien. El clima parece estar cambiando un poco y los primeros indicios del otoño y el clima más frío finalmente se están acercando. A medida que nos adentramos en este clima más frío, asegúrese de que sus hijos usen ropa abrigada y un recordatorio amistoso de que el suéter, las sudaderas o cualquier otra chaqueta deben cumplir con el código de vestimenta de la escuela (negro, gris, gris oscuro, blanco). Si el clima llega a ser un poco soleado al mediodía, por favor recuérdele a su hijo el suéter en su mochila. Aquí hay algunas tendencias positivas sobre la educación en la comunidad latina:

Durante la última década, la tasa de abandono escolar de los hispanos en la escuela secundaria se ha reducido drásticamente.

Los hispanos están haciendo grandes avances en la matrícula universitaria.

Los hispanos todavía están a la zaga de otros grupos en la obtención de un título de cuatro años, ¡pero nuestros números están mejorando!

Todos estos son signos positivos de que la comunidad latina en general le da gran importancia al tema de la educación. Como todos sabemos, la educación es el gran igualador. La educación proporciona la hoja de ruta hacia el camino del éxito, ¡y ese camino comienza ahora! ¡Vamos Huskies!

¡Continúan las evaluaciones I-Ready!

Continuamos administrando las pruebas de diagnóstico I-ready a los grados del uno al octavo. Es imperativo que su hijo esté aquí todos los días y a tiempo.
