Cross Country By Blanca Cruz
The cross country season is over but I spoke with a member of the team to get information. I spoke with Ismael Reyna and asked him, ‘’ what do you bring to practice?’’ Ismael said,’’three pairs of shoes , water , extra set of clothes and an extra hoodie when it's cold.’’ We then discussed his warmups. I asked him, ‘’ What warmups do you do before a game or at practice?’’ He responds with ‘’ cherry pickers, lunges of twist, high knees, butt kickers, side deep lunges, one mile warmup or one service drive (sometimes). Our conversation continued with ‘’ how did you start in the beginning of cross?‘’ He responded with ‘’ I really liked track last year because I like distance running. This year I wanted to try out because hopefully it’ll be the same. I was nervous because I never ran that much in one go before.’’
I thought it was interesting finding out about cross country. He was telling me things that I never knew about cross. I then asked ‘’ How are your teammates during cross?’’ He replied with ‘’ They are all really nice to me and helpful . They were all really fun to run with .’’ We ended our conversation by asking him ‘’ How were your runs? ‘’ He replied with ‘’ Every time when I ran I made long and strong strides and I tried to control my breathing.’’
If you have more questions about Cross Country ask the members of the cross team including Ismael. I hope next year I see High School cross run and see if the courses are different from Middle School.
Bangor MS Basketball Vs Hartford MS Basketball By Amarion Geary.
On November 21, 2022, we played against the Hartford Huskies. We played well but we took an unfortunate loss. The players who had played last night were Carson Pullins, Jaret Mccoy, Jonah Luter, Luke Remington, and William Summerhill. The non-starters Ismael Rodriguez, Amarion Geary, Quinn Dykstra, Angel Barajas.
We are a good basketball team, but not everyone can play because there are 2 teams that play on different days. Team Red plays on the days that are red and Team White plays on the days of white. So we can all have an equal amount of playing time. Then we have Team 8. Team 8 plays every single game but gets subbed out between Team Red & Team White. Our next game is Monday, against the Decatur Raiders in the Bangor Vikings High School at 7:00pm.
Below is a picture from the game of Amarion Geary, Carson Pullins, and Luke Remington.

The Government Is Awarding $1 Billion To Schools For Electric Buses By Jaret McCoy
The President and The Vice president started The Clean School Bus Program. They have purchased 2,463 buses currently, most of them are electric and a few of them are not electric. They have gotten around 12,000 applications for the buses, most of the applications are for the electric buses. Lots of schools have applied for this. I wonder if our school has applied? It would be really cool to get those buses granted to us.
Vice president Kamala Haris said electric buses will help save the community and keep people safe. She means by that, that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions, save money, and also keep the children safer. It helps the children be more safe because the bus is not exhausting diesel. Do you think this will be good for our community?

Battleship Texas The Last Dreadnought By D.Washington
USS Texas is the last dreadnought in the world that hasn't been scrapped or sunk. A man named Admiral Sir John "Jacky" Fisher designed dreadnought which is a type of battleship introduced in the early 20th century. His design was larger and faster than its predecessors and equipped entirely with large-caliber guns.
At one point the captain of the USS Texas flooded a part of the ship to extend the range of one of its long guns on June 15, 1944 while firing upon German strongpoints near Isigny and Carentan. The USS Texas is a 110 old ship In World War I. The USS Texas fired the first American shots of the war when it came upon a German U-boat while escorting a merchant ship in the Atlantic.
After her service, Battleship Texas was retired to Hawkins Point, Baltimore, from June 1946 to January 1948. Battleship Texas is now out of the water for the first time in 32 years and only the second time since she became a museum in 1948.
The USS Texas was the first US battleship to become a permanent museum ship, (though USS Oregon, which became a museum in 1925 - 23 years before Texas - was intended to be permanent before WWII required her scrapping) This made the USS Texas the first battleship declared to be a US National Historic Landmark, and is the only remaining World War I dreadnought left in the world.

FIFA World Cup By Emanuel Ventura
The FIFA World Cup is an international association football competition played by the senior men’s national teams of the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). The World Cup is held every four years and each championship has been awarded every four years since the inaugural tournament in 1930 except in 1942 and 1946. The current champion of the World Cup is France who won their 2nd title in the 2018 World Cup which took place in Russia. It takes 3 years to determine which teams qualify for the tournament.
The group stage has eight groups with 4 teams in each group who play against each other. The two teams with the highest points in each group move on to the round of 16.
The round of 16 has 16 teams who will compete in a single elimination style round. The winning team moves on and the losing team doesn’t. The winning teams from round 16 move on to the quarter finals.
The quarter-finals is made up of eight teams who compete against each other just like the round of 16. It is played in a single elimination style round. Only 4 teams will make it to the semi-finals. The semi-finals is made up of 4 groups and it determines which two teams will make it to the finals.
Before the finals happen the two losing teams of the semi finals will play against each other in the third place play-off which will determine who gets credit for finishing in third and fourth place.
The finals is a single match played against the two teams who made it past the semi-finals. The winner will get the FIFA World Cup trophy.
You can watch the FIFA World Cup on Fox Sports, Fox, Peacock(spanish and english), SlingTV, Fubo, and Vidgo.
Below is the FIFA World Cup trophy.
World Cup By. Marlen Popoca
Hey! Did you know that the FIFA world cup is held every 4 years? This year they are playing. There are at least 4 games held each day. At 2:00 today Brazil and Cameroon play against each other which I'm excited to see.
I support Brazil, but sadly, yesterday, Mexico got eliminated from the world cup. They needed one more goal. I'm sure many other people can agree with me when I say that the game was not fair at all. The officials did not make the calls they should have.
The prize money share for each player would come to $380,769. The 32 teams are divided into eight groups of four. We will be waiting to see Mexico play in 2026 :)
