This Week at Lenape
Under Construction!
Phase 2 of our HVAC project began on Monday, March 13th. This phase involves the closure of classrooms 502, 503, 506, 507, and 508 for a period of 6 weeks and is set to be completed on Friday, April 28th.
Temporary classroom spaces have been built in the auxiliary gym and library to house the displaced classrooms. Temporary partitions are located in the 500 hallway to close it between the 100 and 200 hallways. Lenape has 2 enclosed courtyards; the courtyard doors have been opened so students can pass through to alleviate hallway congestion. We are also dismissing certain classrooms 1-2 minutes early at the end of the day.

Pi Day Contest Winner
on March 14th, Mr. Menta ran Lenape's first Pi Day contest. Students signed up for his I&E session and competed to see how many digits of pi they could recite from memory. Congratulations to NERGIS TEKE reciting an absurd 447 digits! In case it’s hard for you to fathom how many that is, it’s this many…

8th Grade Basketball
This week, the Lenape 8th grade boys basketball team traveled to Pine Run Retirement Community and put smiles on the faces of the residents. They put on a talent show that included, magic, juggling, trivia, singing, comedy, and dancing. These guys can do it all! The residents at Pine Run absolutely loved it and were so appreciative and can’t wait for a return performance.
Thanks for making us proud on and off the court!
9th Grade Holocaust Speaker
On Wednesday, all 9th grade students and interested 7th and 8th grade students attended an I&E session to hear from a speaker from HAMEC, the Holocaust Awareness Museum and Education Center. The students had the unique experience of hearing from a person who experienced the Holocaust firsthand. He shared, "Out of the 520 people deported from my area, 17 people survived. My mother, brother, and I were among those 17, but technically my brother and I weren’t counted in the 520, because they didn’t count children under 10." They were very attentive and asked great questions!
7th Grade Science Enrichment
Lenape 7th grade science held an Enrichment opportunity for students to create green slime to celebrate “March Madness” during I & E time. Students discussed slime as a “Non-Newtonian fluid” which means it behaves both as a solid and at the same time a liquid. When you apply pressure, it turns into a solid and when you let slime flow like a liquid, it stretches. Students were able to take it home with them!
Roxy Therapy Dog Visit
On Thursday, Mrs. Dunst hosted a Roxy dog session where students were able to meet with Roxy Therapy Dogs while doing some relaxing art activities.

Laptop Breakage
We have seen a rise in the amount of screen breaks for student laptops. Our policy covers for 2 broken screens per device. If your child’s laptop screen breaks 3 times, we will be required to send you an invoice for the repair and labor. The current cost for this is $200. Please remind your child to care for their laptops. Some simple steps to assist are:
- Use two hands when holding or moving the device.
- Use clean hands while using the laptop or iPad.
- Use only the provided digital pen or finger on the screen.
- Use only the power adapter that came with the device.
- Use a microfiber cloth to clean the screen.
- Keep device stored in the provided case. This includes traveling through the hallways, on buses, or anytime the device is not being utilized.
- Make sure nothing is on the keyboard, close the lid, and remove all cables if any are plugged into the laptop. Place laptop in your bag carefully.
- Be careful when placing your case on the floor. Keep the device off the floor so screens do not get stepped on by others.
