5 years after the Bp Oil Spill
On April 20th, 2010 the Macondo prospect sustained an explosion that sunk the deep sea oil rig; Leading to the biggest oil disaster in petroleum history. The oil continued to flow into the ocean for 87 days, discharging and estimated 4.9 barrels of oil. The sea floor oil gusher was capped September 19th 2010.
What did the oil spill affect?
There was extensive damage to the wildlife, that can never be undone. There was a massive response to the oil spill; Many men and women came to the animals aid in an attempt to hamper the damage to the wildlife. There were many efforts to rid the ecosystem of the oil. Today the ecosystem is habitable for wildlife, but it will never be what it once was.
