Part 1: Goal Setting
Academic SMART Goal
Measureable: Methods I will use to measure my progress is by doing getting minimum above 85 percent on my regular tests and assignments. Also, I can improve my marks for finals by analyzing the mid-term marks.
Attainable: My goal is attainable because I can reach it by the end of the high school as now I have a overall average of 88 percent. I can achieve my goal by doing my assignments on time and meet with all the requirements. Also, I will prepare in advance for my tests and quizzes so I can get good marks to make my average higher than 88 percent. Plus, my average is mostly dropped because of English and to improve that I can start with reading more books and reading news articles every morning.
Relevant: This is an important goal to me at this time in my life because I want to get accepted into the University of Toronto. Nowadays, there is a lot of competition in being accepted into a good university especially in medical line so, I want to get minimum 90 percent as my overall average. By getting into a good university will help me with my future goals and also help me with my future studies.
Timely: I plan to achieve overall average of 90 percent by the end of the high school year.
Volunteer SMART Goal
Measureable: Methods I will use to measure my progress is by writing all of my hours that I earn from the volunteer work, in the volunteer sheet and getting it signed by the organizations I volunteered with for proof. I will keep track of hours by adding all the hours have been signed on the volunteer sheet to see if I have achieved my goal or not.
Attainable: My goal is attainable to achieve 200 hours by the end of the high school because now I already have 100 hours done, which then leaves me with 100 more hours to do. These hours can easily be done because I still have two more years to get them which is enough time to do 100 hours. I can start finishing my goal by volunteering this two months summer vacations. Even though I have summer school for the first month, I can still finish half of my hours by the end of the second month with the help of CYC Youth Program as it provides thirty five hours in one week. To complete my goal, I can do two weeks of volunteering there which would give seventy hours more than the half. Next summer vacation, I can volunteer at the Civic Hospital to earn hours because it would look good work experience on my resume as I want to go in medical field of becoming a doctor and plus I would get hours to help finish my SMART goal. If I still need more hours to finish my goal, I can again volunteer with CYC Program to get more hours and plus this program helps protect the environment by planting more trees, helping farmers and the last day they take the volunteers for relaxing field trip.
Relevant: This is an important goal for me because it will help me get into a good university for my field. Many universities look at the student's volunteer hours and compare with other students to see which student has more hours and then get accepted. This is true that universities look at the students overall average marks first and if they are above 85% but they look at the volunteer experience to see if you have an experience in the field you are going in. For example for me, I want to go to medical field so many universities will look at the volunteer experience if I have worked at hospitals or any other medical places. So, that's why volunteer SMART goal is important for me as it will help get me into the best university for my line.
Timely: I have plan to achieve 200 hours of volunteer work by the time I graduate from my high school.
