Virtues
Generosity is giving and sharing. You share freely, not with the idea of receiving something in return. You find ways to give others happiness, and give just for the joy of giving. Generosity is one of the best ways to show love and friendship.
Here are some questions to discuss with your child regarding generosity:
When do you find it most difficult to share? When do you feel like sharing?
How do you feel when someone does not share with you?
How do you feel when someone does share with you?
What helps you to be generous?
Who is it hard to be generous to? Who is it easy to be generous to?
Have you ever sacrificed something that is important to you? How did that feel?
What are three ways you can be generous at home today?
Thanks for your support!
ELA
Dear Family Member:
This week our class will be focusing on how people from different cultures contribute to a community. We will be discussing how we can learn from people from another culture.
Here are some activities that you can do with your child to help reinforce the skills we’ll be practicing.
Word Workout
- Words to Know: compound words Discuss the meanings of the vocabulary words with your child, and then take turns using each word in a sentence.
- Spelling/Phonics: final e Help your child review long vowel sounds by reading each word aloud. Your child will hold up the appropriate vowel card—a, i, o, or u—and then spell the word.
Comprehension: sequence
You will read a passage about how to start a small library in the classroom. You and your child will figure out the sequence of the steps given in the passage. Your child will look at the chart and write a sentence that describes each step based on their order in the passage.
Math
Social Studies & Science
In addition to finishing up our unit Force, we are beginning to learn about Australia. Students will each pick an endangered Australian animal to research. They will write a report about their animals, create a Google Slideshow and share their presentations with their classmates.
