Key Action 1 - Learning Mobility Of Individuals
V.I.P. - Language Learning in a cross sectorial approach
The workshop offers innovative methods to increase language skills of students. The participants will learn to take advantage of the biography of a V.I.P. to support language learning in a very practical way. They will learn how to keep the curiosity of students to deal with several topics, like family, childhood, youth, work environment, music etc.
We will use the example of Johann Sebastian Bach in our workshop. Discovering the life of Johann Sebastian Bach the participants will learn methods like experimental learning, artful and visible thinking, changing learning places etc. In a transnational learning group the participants will experience co-operative learning which strengthens them to deal with heterogeneous learning groups.Daily programme
- introduction of the topic
- excursion to the church where Bach’s parents have got married: Exploitation for the topic “Family” and “religion/ politics”
- excursion to Eisenach

visit of the Bach museum
visualization – draw posters of Instruments
- learn about instruments – language communication, music, history
- learning about the childhood of Bach – language learning, history, Social competencies
- working on a time line
Day 3
- excursion to Arnstadt the place of Bach’s first job to learn about his personality and his conflicts with his employers – methods for debating: young people and their role in Society
- impressions of the music of Bach – Art as a tool for learning – cultivating both critical and creative thinking by sharing opinions
- Excursion to Leipzig
- Participants fulfil tasks and discover the life station of Bach along the railway.
- Visit of the Thomas Church in Leipzig.
- Press Team: Participants interview each other to summarize the acquired knowledge.

Where?
The workshop is going to be carried out in Weimar. This is a very beautiful city in the middle of Germany. The famous German poet, Johann Wolfgang Goethe, spent the most of his live time here.
You can reach Weimar via the Airports
- Leipzig (1 hour train distance)
- Berlin (2,5 hours train distance) and
- Frankfurt (3 hours train distance).
How to participate?
If you are interested in participating on one of our workshops you need a sending organisation and have to contact an organisation in your country that possibly applied for Key Action 1 Mobilities or intends to do so. But you can also contact us, and we will help you to find a sending organization in your country.

We are experienced in the organisation and realisation of Grundtvig workshops.
