Student Behavior Expectations
During the beginning of this school year, we will continue to work with all of our students to transition back into the building as we navigate the many challenges that Covid presents to us. But as we do this, we must maintain and continue to build upon the soft skills that prepare our students for the next level in life. The Student/Parent Handbook was written to protect you as a student and your rights while ensuring we maintain an environment that reflects our community as a whole. We will be conducting sessions to review some of these expectations outlined in the Code of Conduct when you return.
We have created a quick link to the Code of Conduct. Please see below.
SPORTS UPDATES & HIGHLIGHTS
Change in Athletic Spectator Policy
Due to the rise in covid cases, our district has decided to limit the number of fans attending sporting events. Moving forward home events at Hodgson will be limited to TWO SPECTATORS PER HOME ATHLETE.
This means that each athlete will be allowed two guests to attend the game. Students, if you are not invited by an athlete as one of their guests you cannot attend.
ATTENTION ATHLETES
As the 2nd marking period and first-semester wind-down, please remember if you want to stay academically eligible, you must FINISH STRONG!
· Seniors, you must be passing all courses required to graduate! This includes your career area and SENIOR MATH!
· ALL STUDENTS you must be passing your career area
· ALL STUDENTS you must be passing at least two of your academic courses
If you fail to meet any of these requirements, you will be academically ineligible for sports. If you are a winter sports athlete, you will not finish the season…
If you are a spring athlete, you will not be able to try out…
Please visit silvereaglessports.com or keep a lookout on Schoology for Spring Try-Outs.
Let’s finish strong and keep our eligibility!!!!

Ailyn Lopez
Delaware Department of Education welcomes student success ambassadors
DDOE's Delaware Higher Education Office welcomed ten (10) student interns from six (6) high schools and two (2) colleges as part of the Delaware Student Success (DSS) Ambassadors program.
The DSS Ambassadors program gives students a seat at the table when educational reform and equitable conversations take place throughout the school year. Students will engage with various stakeholders, elevate student engagement and ensure messaging from the Office of Higher Education is made by students for students.
Ailyn Lopez, a senior at Hodgson Vocational-Technical School, has been selected to participate in the program.
Ailyn Lopez says, "as a student, I know how difficult it can be to take the next steps in your education, especially without guidance. I hope to make the process more easily accessible for students and to give them the confidence needed to make their goals attainable."
Diversity, Equity and Inclusivity
Student Diversity Task Force
Twenty-two students from the Hodgson's Student Diversity Task Force (FAM) Leads joined over 75 other student leaders from across New Castle County Vo Tech school district at Howard High School of Technology in October of 2021 for Unity Day. Students organized and led Unity Day to develop their leadership skills and ensure student voices are heard across New Castle County Vo-Tech. Making connections reinforces the notion that all Delcastle, Hodgson, Howard, and St. Georges are part of a unified district. While students led and planned Unity Day, they did so with support and guidance from several adults, Lori Hayes of Lori L. Speaks and NCCVT Diversity & Equity Coordinator Christa Davis. A project of the District's Diversity Task Force, aka the FAM, Unity Day was not a culminating event but a starting point. Each school team is now challenged to implement the ideas and ideals of Unity Day with their peers in their buildings.
We here at Hodgson Continued with the energy of creating groups that would represent our student makeup within our school to ensure this movement continues.
