U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION NATIONWIDE CALL FOR STUDENT PERFORMING ARTISTS
The U.S. Department of Education is seeking student performing artists (such as bands, choirs, color guards, dancers, drumlines, poets/spoken word artists, soloists, theatrical performers) currently enrolled in elementary, middle, or high schools, who exemplify resilience, diversity, and excellence and are interested in showcasing their talent. No formal training or experience is necessary.

We are walking every Thursday, 7 pm at the Big Dipper Indoor Track.
Hands-On Activities
Students of all ages love engineering activities!
Getting to design, build, break, collaborate, and create is a big win with every kid.
- How long should you spend on an activity?
- We have activities from >45 minutes, 1-2 hours, or multiple sessions.
- What activity is best for each grade?
- What materials do you need?
- Our activities use low cost, free, or easily recyclable materials. A list of activities, print outs, and lesson structure is included with each activity!

Citizen Science Lesson Plan Competition
Teachers, help shape the future of scientific research by incorporating citizen science into your classroom! The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) wants to see how you incorporate the use of citizen science into your lesson plans. Teachers of any grade level or subject are invited to submit a STEM lesson plan that includes citizen science. Interested educators are invited to submit an original lesson plan to https://orausurvey.orau.org/n/CitizenScience.aspx.

Teachers!!! The 2024 DIG Field School applications are now open!
This year, there two DIG Field School experiences:
- DIG Field School Petrified Forest (DIG PEFO) will take place Sunday, June 2 through Thursday, June 6 at Petrified Forest National Park in northeastern Arizona.
- DIG Field School Hell Creek (DIG Hell Creek) will take place Sunday, July 21 through Thursday, July 25 at Hell Creek Recreation Area near Jordan, Montana.
Sound exciting? The application will remain open until Thursday, February 15 at 11:59 p.m. PST.

The National Summer Teacher Institute (NSTI) is a multi-day professional development training opportunity designed to support elementary, middle, and high school teachers as they increase their knowledge of concepts of making, inventing, and intellectual property (IP) creation and protection.
NSTI is designed to help teachers inspire the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs. The program is open to eligible K-12 teachers nationwide. It combines experiential training tools, practices, and project-based learning models.
NSTI 2024 will take place July 21-26, 2024, at the USPTO Headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia.
