First Friday Devotions
First Friday Devotions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus are Coming to SLS
In the 1600’s, Jesus appeared to St. Margaret Mary Alocoque and asked her to help spread devotion to His Most Sacred Heart. He asked for special prayers and practices to be said on the first Fridays of nine consecutive months. In return for making this devotion, Jesus promised these twelve things:
1. I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life.
2. I will establish peace in their homes.
3. I will comfort them in all their afflictions.
4. I will be their secure refuge during life, and above all, in death.
5. I will bestow abundant blessings upon all their undertakings.
6. Sinners will find in my Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy.
7. Lukewarm souls shall become fervent.
8. Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection.
9. I will bless every place in which an image of my Heart is exposed and honored.
10. I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.
11. Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in my Heart.
12. I promise you in the excessive mercy of my Heart that my all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the First Fridays in nine consecutive months the grace of final perseverance; they shall not die in my disgrace, nor without receiving their sacraments. My divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.
Beginning September 7th, St. Louis School students and teachers will begin the Catholic tradition of First Friday Devotions to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Every first Friday of the month, students will attend an all school mass and pray for themselves and sinners around the world in reparation to Jesus’ Sacred Heart.
Please join us for this special devotion as we continue to grow closer to Jesus each day.

Do You Want To Become A Catholic?
R.C.I.A.—Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults—is a process for those adults interested in learning more about the Catholic faith in order to receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist. This process is for all men and women who are not baptized, or baptized in another Christian church but in need of further instruction and initiation, or those baptized in the Catholic Church but needing more instruction to complete the sacraments of Initiation.
SEVEN REASONS TO JOIN R.C.I.A. -- (Why seven? Seven is a Holy number in the Old Testament.)
1. You’re marrying a Catholic. (Sharing and practicing your faith together is a great foundation to a marriage.)
2. You’re already married to a Catholic and your kids are being raised Catholic. (It’s natural to want to share in the sacramental experience of your loved ones.)
3. Your children are being raised Catholic and you just want to learn more about the tradition without actually becoming Catholic. (Please join us but you might be surprised what happens!)
4. You’ve lived in a “Catholic World” all your life. (This program is for people of all ages. Every year someone joins us whom everyone in the Parish assumed was already Catholic!)
5. You don’t know much about Catholicism but you have a friend or neighbor who has inspired you to learn more. (Actions speak louder than words.)
6. You’ve suffered through a personal loss and are seeking to improve your faith. (“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”)
7. You don’t know why, you just feel something calling you to the Church. (It’s the Holy Spirit...listen to it.)
For more information, call 934-2603. Classes start September 23rd!
