CELEBRATIONS & RECOGNITIONS

Congratulations Mrs. DeWeese!!!

Thoreau Demonstration Academy language arts and social studies teacher Margaret Deweese was named Tulsa Public School’s 2015 Teacher of the Year.

Deweese has been a teacher for 20 years, all with TPS. Although her mother was a teacher and her family valued education, Deweese didn’t even realize she wanted to teach until she was 30, married and had three children. Seeing a TV commercial with a history teacher spokesman one day made her realize that teaching is what she was meant to do. She calls teaching the most rewarding and enjoyable work she has ever done. Deweese attributes her success as a teacher to countless hours of preparation, extremely hard work, perseverance and the desire to make a difference in her students’ lives every day. She considers her greatest accomplishment is knowing that she has played an important part of her students future endeavors, both personally and professionally.

ARTICLE WORTH SHARING

Here is a short read that I challenge you to check out. Ask yourself these question: 1. What is the difference between coaching heavy and coaching light? 2. Do I coach heavy or do I coach light? 3. How can this these two types of coaching impact my practice as an instructional leader?
