Improvement for the 2nd Quarter
Team Columbia:
Thanks to all who met during the Data Meetings we had some robust conversations. I appreciate your diligence to ensuring our students are learning the standards. A standard theme throughout the data meetings were deficiencies in math, literacy and failure to turn in assignments. We must ensure that we are teaching the standards to mastery by providing challenging opportunities for our students to grow.
When students fail to meet standards we must use our scaffolds such as PST, phone calling home, parental conferences, AOA Office Hours, building student relationships, and trying new strategies to assist all students. Further, we must review plans for our special populations for SpEd, ELL, and 504 to ensure we are providing the appropriate accommodations. I will be sending out the Data Meeting summary for all meetings in the near future.
Let us continue to improve by continuing to be reflective practitioners in our instructional practices. Are we providing opportunities for higher level questioning, opportunities for writing, small group instruction, opportunities for collaboration and opportunities for students to share their understanding of concepts?
Have a great week of teaching and learning!
