Author Visits
In observance of National Hispanic Heritage Month, PSJA Memorial ECHS was honored to host two authors. On September 18, poet Dr. Steven Schneider, author of Borderlines: Drawing Border Lives/Fronteras: Dibujando las vidas fronterizas visited with the GROWL Book Club and English classes.
On September 25, author Viola Canales also visited with our students. She is the author of The Tequila Worm, Orange Candy Slices, and The Little Devil and the Rose: Loteria Poems. She is also the winner of the Pura Belpre Award.
We would like to thank Mrs. Nora Galvan, PSJA ISD Library Coordinator, for making these author visits possible!
Battle of the Books
Texas Teen Book Festival
PSJA ISD had the opportunity to take students from each of the high schools to the Texas Teen Book Festival at St. Edwards University Austin, Texas on Saturday, September 26. Eight lucky GROWL Club members had the chance to sit in on young adult author panel discussions, get books autographed and meet other teens from all over Texas.
Once again, we would like to thank Mrs. Nora Galvan, PSJA ISD Library Coordinator, for providing such once in a lifetime opportunities for our students!
