Principal Message
We have quite a final week of school lined up for our students and families!
Students in all classes have been working diligently to complete projects and assignments to be featured on our Fammatre Family Night website (aka Virtual Open House). This Friday, May 29th I will be emailing out the link. At your leisure, we invite you and your children to browse and appreciate the clever, creative, and thoughtful work our students have submitted.
The Fammatre Talent Show 2020 will go live on Tuesday, June 2nd. The link to the show will be posted in all of our Google and Seesaw classrooms and emailed out to families that morning. We will leave the link live through June 5th so everyone has a chance to watch it. Although I think we would all prefer to enjoy this event in person, video has presented a unique opportunity to see some new types of talent show entries. Be prepared to be dazzled!
Wednesday, June 3rd all classes will be participating in the Fammatre Virtual Field Day. Mr. Mercado, are inspiring PE teacher, provides a sneak peek of what is to come in the video shared below. Teachers will share the details on how to participate with students.
Thursday, June 4th is our last day of school for 2019-20. That morning we will be celebrating our fifth-graders in a virtual promotion ceremony (information included below). That afternoon, your child's teacher will be emailing you their final report card for the year. I've included information below that went out in last week's Dr. Andrew's Closure Update #11 regarding report cards for this final trimester.
If you ordered a yearbook or have a 5th grader, please remember the drive-by yearbook and 5th-grade promotion gift pick-up is this Saturday, May 30. The location and information are provided below. I look forward to seeing our families and students at the pick-up.
Warmly,
Jackie
Fammatre 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony
Save the date!
Thursday, June 4 from 9:00-10:00 am our fifth-grade teachers will be hosting a Google Meet for 5th-grade families, 5th-grade students, and staff. During this video meeting, we will be recognizing all of our Fifth Grade students and celebrating this important milestone of transitioning from elementary to middle school.
We will email the Google Meet link out to families on Wednesday, June 3. The link will also be posted in our 5th Grade Google Classrooms on June 3rd.
Additionally, we are creating a pre-recorded version of the 5th Grade Promotion Event to email out to 5th-grade families later in the day on June 3rd in case some of our students or families are not able to join us at 9am on June 4th.
Sincerely,
The 5th Grade Team
REPORT CARDS
In light of school closures due to COVID-19, your child’s end of the year report card will not reflect individual attainment of the standards, due to the fact we cannot ensure how the standard was taught or assessed. The end of year reporting is an opportunity for your child’s teacher to provide some feedback on your child’s participation and work completion from the time of school closure through the end of the year.
We want to express our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all of the parents, siblings, family members, and friends who supported your student during this pandemic. We understand what a huge undertaking this was for all families and we can assure you that when we are able to welcome students back to school we will utilize all of our resources within the comprehensive assessment system to determine student ability levels and plan instruction to fill gaps and continue to deliver learning at a high level!
