Centerview families:
Yes! What a great first two days of school at Centerview Elementary. Students were ready to roll into and through their first couple school days with excitement and anticipation for a new year! Thanks to our families for your preparation and guidance leading into this week. Our students were well prepared!
Centerview staff had worked diligently in preparation for each students’ arrival on Tuesday and this first week. Together, they have purposefully designed and created an environment that is warm and welcoming, encouraging engagement through their studio and classroom arrangement. Over the past couple years, we’ve been limited, however, the start of this year is refreshing and will provide much opportunity to innovate and flexibly use our space and resources to personalize instruction.
We were impressed with how smooth drop-off and pick-up went the last two days. The more we are on the same page with procedures, practices and communication, the more efficient we will be (See specific information below). Staff are present during arrival and dismissal each day to answer questions. You may also call the office or stop in. I’d be happy to talk with you.
As we think about next week, more information will be coming your way through Seesaw and Schoology specific to grade level and teacher schedules and expectations. We will also continue to spend time building relationships and school community. One way is through fun themed days. We start this Friday with Wear Your Favorite Team Apparel (or colors) Day. This may or may not involve this Sunday’s Packer vs. Vikings game.
This Saturday, September 10, the Panther Foundation and Community Education Department are hosting a “Start Your Engines” event in the Spring Lake Park High School parking lot. All are welcome! See more info in the newsletter, and I hope your family can come by to see some big trucks, food trucks and automobiles.
Thank you for your partnership. We are off to a great start!
Take care,
Mike
Now Hiring - Crossing Guard
Centerview is in need of a person to support arrival and dismissal from 8:45-9:30 a.m. and 3:30-4:15 p.m. each day. This person would direct our parent drop-off and pick-up south of 105th and north of the NSC Welcome Center. Yes, this is currently where Mr. Callahan is located.
This would be a paid position through the school district and would support the safe arrival and dismissal of our students on a daily basis.
If interested, please contact the office at 763-600-5500.
CV Arrival and Dismissal Pick-up/Drop-off 2022-23
When monitoring students’ arrival to and dismissal from Centerview Elementary each day, there are lots of smiles on the faces of our little people when they know what to expect and feel safe each day.
As we jump back into the new year at Centerview, here are the expectations for dropping off and picking up your child(ren). Our #1 priority is to see that arrival and dismissal is done in an orderly fashion, so our students, staff and our families are safe.
With the number of students dropped off and picked up each day by parents and family members, you can expect long lines where patience is required. Our combined efforts in following the subsequent procedures will ensure that our students and our families are safe each day. We have experience with this process and know that it is efficient, and our students are safe if followed accordingly.
Drop-off
- All students, not riding the bus, can be dropped off curbside at the front of the school each day between 9:00 and 9:20 a.m. When dropping off, please have your student(s) ready to get out once you have pulled up to the yellow curb.
- Families are not allowed to walk their student to the front of the school from the parking lot. PLEASE do not drop children off in the parking lot and have them walk up to the school on their own or expect them to enter the parking lot without an adult. There will be no crossing guard.
- Students arriving between 9:00 and 9:10 a.m. will enter (door #14) to the gymnasium, wait patiently in their identified spot, until the 9:10 a.m. bell rings when they are dismissed to their classroom. Support and supervision will be present curb side and in the gymnasium.
- Students arriving between 9:10-9:20 a.m. will enter through the front entrance (door #1) of the school and immediately proceed to their classroom.
- In all drop-off situations, if a student receives a breakfast, 1st-4th grade, they may go directly to the Commons Café’ to receive their breakfast before heading to the classroom. All kindergarten students will receive and eat their breakfast in the classroom following the 9:20 a.m. bell.
- See the attached map for curbside drop off.
Pick-up
- All students, not riding the bus, can be picked up curbside at the front of the school each day between, 3:55 and 4:10 p.m.
- Students will be brought from their classroom to the gymnasium at 3:50 each day.
- Please have your school issued pick up number visible on your dashboard or visor. Each day a staff member will need your visible pick-up number to identify your place in line.
- When families arrive curbside to pick up, authorized family and friends will be matched by number, and the student(s) will be dismissed. Your student(s) will be standing at a colored cone and staff assist your student(s) in getting into your vehicle.
- If you have not received or need a car number, call the office for next steps – 763-600-5500
- As signs indicate, there will be no parking and leaving a car unattended on the yellow curb.
- Families are not allowed to walk up to the gymnasium to pick-up their student from the front of the school parking lot or from the yellow curb.
- If there is a change to your child’s pickup routine, you must call the office before 3:15 p.m. to make the change.
- Parents are not allowed to take a child off the bus to conclude the day. Please go directly to the office if you would like to have your child taken off the bus at dismissal. At this time, it might be too late.
- Be attentive to the single line bumper to bumper when cars line up south of field 48 and 49. South of field 50 and 51, cars will line up side by side, bumper to bumper for traffic flow.
- Signage has been added to communicate our end of the day procedure and partnership with the National Sports Center.
To ensure these procedures are followed at arrival and dismissal, Centerview staff will be available for questions, clarification, and reminders as needed in the morning and afternoon. Please follow the direction of your Centerview Staff. Your efforts and attentiveness are appreciated.
