February Frost
Parents! Please remember to send your child to school ready for the weather. Depending on the temperature of the day, we have been inundated with slippery ice or a slushy mess. Although we have been having indoor recess this week, we hope to get a few nice days soon so we can go out and play.
You Rock!!
At the Block Island School, not only do we celebrate our students, but each month one faculty member publicly acknowledges another colleague for the outstanding contributions they bring to our school. That staff member is also honored by being given the "U" Rock, trophy. It is kept until the next recipients is named. This little show of appreciation for each other keeps our spirits up and allows us to recognize the hard work we all do. This week's Rock Star is Mrs. Buol!!
1,003 Points to Remember
Congratualations goes out to senior Kiley Hall for reaching 1,003 points as a member of the girl's basketball team!! Way to go Kiley!!
Habit of Mind to remember.... Managing Impulsivity!!
As part of our continuing work to reinforce social skills, which make a well rounded, life long learner, this month we are focusing on "Managing Impulsivity". This Habit of Mind is thinking before acting, remaining calm, thoughtful and deliberate. It is our hope that we can foster, through discussion and modeling, the ability of our students to deny impulse in service of a goal, whether it be building a business, solving an algebraic equation or pursuing a win at the Super Bowl!
Art Club Mural
Under the direction of Art teacher Lisa Robb, our afterschool Art Club students have produced a beautiful mural to liven up our cafeteria.
Oh! The Places You Will Go.......
The college acceptances have been rolling in for the members of the senior class. Students are asked to post a flag to represent their admissions thus far. Decisions will not need to be made until May 1. We are so proud of all of them!
