Informational Writing Across the Content Areas
This session will address how to incorporate science and social studies standards into your ELA block while focusing on writing. There will be a focus on content vocabulary and using leveled texts to teach science and social studies. Learn strategies and best practices you can take back to school with you.
Improving Engagement and Motivation Through Experiential Learing Opportunities
This session will provide concrete strategies to incorporate experiential learning opportunities across the content areas within the classroom, as well as, outside of the classroom. Participants will receive resources to support implementing the strategies back at the classroom.
Planting the Seeds of Inquiry, Community and Growth: A School Garden Story
Follow multiple garden journeys and learn how students answer many questions about the world around them while they learn to problem solve, work together and overcome obstacles through building an amazing school garden. Watch how the students grow as individuals, independent thinkers, and into a classroom community that supports one another. Learn how it all started from a simple question and evolved into multiple garden projects where students thrived and community members joined to foster the curiosity of our young gardeners.

History Alive: A Walk Through the Civil War and Underground Railroad Era
Staff, students, families and friends, join us for a fun filled day at Spruce Run Nature Center!
What: An Interactive Drama Reenactment with hands-on activities for the young and young at heart!
When: Saturday, May 19th, 10:00-2:00
Where: Spruce Run Nature and Education Center

Description: Go back in time and visit with famous people from the Civil War Era. There will be presentations, crafts and activities. Join us at the beautiful Spruce Run Nature Center and take a walk through history. Below are some of the historical figures that will be attending the event.
