Effects or Symptoms in the Body
What does the chemical do to the body? Long-term exposure to arsenic in water can cause cancer in the skin, lungs, bladder, and kidney.
How does it interfere with the body? Interferes with the cellular longevity by alloestric inhibition of an essential metabolic enzyme, pyruvate dehydrogenase complex, which catalyzes the oxidation of the compounds.
Symptoms: Vary with the type and concentration of the poison, but abdominal pains, destruction of red blood cells (hemolysis), shock & death quickly.
