Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District 103 - Mar 11, 2020
COVID-19 Update
Hello D103 Community,
I would like to provide some clarity regarding the application for creating eLearning in District 103 and how we may use it during this time. Under current Illinois law, the district must follow certain procedures and timelines prior to implementing eLearning in the district, including announcements to the public and conducting a hearing after those announcements. After the hearing on March 20, we will be able to utilize eLearning in the district as an option if the school district closes. Prior to the hearing on March 20, the Board of Education will be reviewing the plan at the March 17 meeting at 7:00 p.m. at the District Office, 111 Barclay Boulevard, Suite 100, Lincolnshire. Due to the current circumstances surrounding COVID-19, the State of Illinois is reviewing these timelines and may modify them. Until they do, we are under the current law and must follow these procedures as outlined.
Parents who wish to keep their children at home due to concerns regarding COVID-19 may do so and the absence will be counted as an excused absence. Please note that eLearning is not an option at this very moment, however, work will be provided as we have done in the past when students are ill.
We continue to work with the Regional Office of Education and the Illinois Department of Health concerning the COVID-19 outbreak. As you know, the situation continues to change rapidly and we are implementing plans so that we may continue instruction even if we have a possible school closure. We will be sending out regular communications regarding the situation to keep you informed.
Thank you and stay tuned for additional information later this week.
