Update . . .
Thank you for speaking to your children about bathroom procedures. The original article from last week is below.
Bathroom Issues Article from 2-25-19
Please help us by reviewing proper bathroom procedures at home. We cannot continue to have students exposed to these conditions and have our staff clean up these conditions. We don't want to resort to more extreme measures like taking scheduled class bathroom breaks or having every student that leaves their classroom by accompanied by an adult.
In addition to having bodily fluids outside the toilet when it should be in - we have also had issues with items going down the toilet that should not. Recently, MMA had to spend thousands of dollars to replace two sewage pumps that service 5 bathrooms in the new addition. In less than six months, clothing, rags, handfuls of pencils, and other hard, unidentifiable items accumulated and were found stuck in the pumps, which ultimately caused them to break.
The whole situation of diagnosing and fixing the problem required several occasions of pumping out the sewage containment system and required individuals to physically go into that containment system. Additionally, those 5 bathrooms in the addition were closed several times.
Again, please review with your children that the only thing that should be flushed down the toilet are toilet paper and their bodily fluids. We really do not want to take away instructional time and use staff resources to supervise every trip to the bathroom. Thank you for your help in this matter.

Public Hearing for Utah K-5 and High School Draft Science Standards
The Utah State Board of Education (USBE) has approved a draft for new Utah K-5 and High School Science standards and are holding public meetings around the state and online to collect as much feedback as possible on the standards. All members of the public are invited to attend any of the public hearings to provide feedback for the standards. Also, if you cannot make a public hearing, there is an online survey available for you to provide feedback. The draft of the standards, details for the public hearings, and link to the online survey are available on the USBE Science Website - https://www.schools.utah.gov/curr/science.
