St. Mike's Matters - Thursday Notes
October 5th, 2017 Issue #5
Dear St. Michael Families,
I hope that you can join us for our upcoming S.M.A.R.T. Family Night on Saturday, October 14th at 5PM, here at our school. Now in its 29th year, this annual tradition unites our community in fun, fellowship, and stewardship! I am so grateful for the community-wide effort to share your time and talent during this community-building event. I am especially thankful for the amazing leadership of our tireless co-chairs - Michelle Newlean and Alysha Myers. They have quite a night planned out for you and your children! Thank you for signing up for Family Night service opportunities on the poster right inside our school entrance - it has been exciting for me to watch these sheets start to fill up with names.
Our Family Night Fund-a-Need will be a class set of 30 iPads on a rolling iPad cart. This will be the second iPad cart for our school, and it will be used by classes throughout our building. This iPad cart will allow more students to use these tools for MAP testing, along with allowing us to better implement 21st century teaching and learning throughout our school. Please prayerfully consider helping us achieve this important goal for our school at our S.M.A.R.T. Family Night.
The tuition assistance application window is now open for the 2018-2019 school year! If you plan to apply for tuition assistance for the 2018-2019 school year, then you need to apply by the deadline of January 5, 2018. The application can be accessed here: https://online.factsmgt.com/aid
Once an online application has been completed, please send the required supporting documentation to FACTS. Please note that your application is not complete and you will not be eligible for tuition assistance through the Fulcrum Foundation or our school’s endowment if you have not submitted the requested documentation. Documentation can also be faxed to 866-315-9264 or mailed to FACTS. If you have questions or concerns about the application process, you may speak with a FACTS Customer Care Representative at 866-441-4637.
Blessings,
Connor Geraghty

S.M.A.R.T. Family Night
October 14th at 5 pm
S.M.A.R.T. Family Night needs your help, and it looks like a job for SUPER SPARTANS!
Additional wine donations are needed to fill the Wall of Wine ($15 and up), and Gift Cards are needed for the SUPER awesome Hulk Smash activity.
There are still another 14 opportunities to volunteer at Family Night, and complete some of your school volunteer hours. Please visit the sign-up sheet in the entry to the school and fill one of these spots!
In order to add some fun to donating and volunteering, Alysha and Michelle are making it a contest. The classroom that brings in the most wine, gift cards, and has the most volunteers sign up will win a popcorn and soda party. Each donation and volunteer sign-up will count as a point. There is no need to split your donations amongst your children! Each child will receive the points earned by their family. A bonus point can be earned by purchasing your gift card through Scrip.

Box Tops-
It is amazing how many box tops are coming in through the school and the parish. The leader board (bulletin board in the entryway) will be updated after S.M.A.R.T. Family Night.
Keep feeding Bob because he is one hungry Monster!
September 30th Movie Night-
Thank you to everyone that attended the movie night! It was a fun evening full of popcorn, pizza, soda, and licorice. The next movie night is November 9th at 6 PM. A voting form will be provided later this month to select which movie we watch.
Scrip-
Have you turned in your form to automatically receive scrip each month? If not, it isn’t too late! Purchasing Scrip helps the PTSA raise money for field trips, teacher appreciation events, and much much more!
Thank you,
Michelle Newlean

The St. Michael School Commission is consultative and advisory in nature. Members meet once a month to advise and support Mr. Geraghty and Fr. Jim as they (Mr. Geraghty and Fr. Last evening, the St. Michael School Commission held their first meeting of the year.
The meeting focused on the following topics:

Several new members were welcomed to the commission last night. Please thank our members when you see them. We are so grateful for their generous service to our school!
