SHOUT OUT TO SIERRA!
BETA CLUB SOCK DRIVE
Beta Club is wanting to keep some feet warm by conducting a Sock Drive. Socks are items that are one of the most needed but one of the least donated. For this reason, when speaking to shelters, one of the items requested is socks. Socks can be an inexpensive way to make a big impact on someone's life. Please donate new pairs, especially men's and women's sizes, of socks to help us reach our goal of 600 pairs.
IXL MATH CHALLENGE
In NEXT week's communication folder, you will find your student's MAPs scores. Some reports have stickers placed on them indicating that at this point in the year, your student isn't projected to meet the state standard for math. DO NOT STRESS! I have a plan! The plan does not include only the students with the stickers, but also the students that are expected to meet state standards. It is my belief that everyone has an area in which they can grow and learn more. I want everyone to benefit from this plan and become better!
The kids and I have talked extensively about what we could do to bring our scores up. I am typically here everyday by 7:15 am. The first bell doesn't ring until 7:30. This is when students are allowed into our classrooms. I have talked with the class and we have come up with a plan that will allow them to come into the classroom with me when I arrive each morning and work on specific areas of need to help them boost their scores. I have pulled a report and looked at each student individually and assigned each student a specific IXL task for Monday. They will work on that task until the bell rings and once the bell rings, they will record their score. I will review their work and re-assign the same task or move them to the next level. This will continue throughout the week. These forms will come home each week in their communication folders so you can see their progress and also review IXL with them.
With all of this being said, the students know that this is an "extra" and in order to improve we all must want to improve and put forth the effort. This is not a social time nor is it a time to play. We have discussed my expectations and requirements during this very short and limited time period. If you wish for your student to take advantage of this time, please have them to school each morning by 7:15.
THIS EXTRA IXL CHALLENGE WILL BEGIN NEXT MONDAY, MARCH 6th!

HAVE A CHANGE IN TRANSPORTION?
The district office says....
A parent request for a student transportation change request will only be approved by the principal when it is requested in person or in writing by the students’ parent/legal guardian. In this case, we are defining writing as a hand written note that is sent with the student from home. Students can only be released to individuals that are listed on the student information card. In emergency situations, a transportation change or releasing a child to an adult not on the card MUST be confirmed by calling the parent/legal guardian on a phone number that is on the card or by using video chat. Please begin phasing out the process of accepting e-mails for dismissal changes. By March 1 we will no longer accept emails.
