All Things SLI
Silver Lake Intermediate March 26, 2021
SLI Families:
What a great way to head into spring break. We had spirit days, all school bingo, and a door decorating contest. These activities were spearheaded by our PBIS grade level student groups. They did an awesome job promoting school spirit. Pictures are included in this newsletter.
Stay Tuned: Learning Celebration, 8th grade dance/event, 8th grade promotion: During the month of April, please look for information in this newsletter and sent home to grade levels regarding end of the year activities. We are thinking through how to celebrate in safe ways.
Summer School: If you are interested in having your child attend summer school this summer, please note that there is a different format than in previous years. For intermediate students classes will be held at NHI. Please see the flyer in this newsletter to access more information.
Forward Exam State Assessment: Students in 5th -8th grade will be participating in the state Forward Exam in April at SLI. During testing weeks, it is our hope that disruptions to our students' day is minimal. It would be much appreciated if appointments were not scheduled during school hours. Students do better if they can test with their class, in their classroom environment, with their classroom teacher. This isn't always possible when students need to make up tests. We also understand there may be quarantines and illness. We may need to be flexible with our dates if those become a barrier to our testing schedule. After spring break expect more communication from myself as well as your child classroom teachers.
Content Areas Tested: ELA & Math
5th & 6th grade: April 14-19
7th grade: April 20-23
Content Areas Tested: ELA, Math, Social Studies & Science

Enjoy your spring break and time with family and friends. Stay safe and relax. We still have a lot of learning to do yet before the end of the school year.

What does my child do if they are in quarantine or isolation?
Even though we are back full face to face five days a week, students in quarantine are expected to Zoom into the class here at school.
If your child is ill and is unable to participate in the virtual schedule (i.e. attend Zoom meeting with the in person class), please email your child's teachers so they are aware and can work with individual families/students.
What if my child has technical issues at home?
Students and families who need technical support can submit a ticket using the form on their student bookmarks, or available here. In addition, support from our Technology Help Desk is available during the school day by calling 262-560-2126 or emailing helpdesk@oasd.org. For those who do not have reliable internet access at home, please contact our help desk to request a hotspot. The OASD Technology Website has additional information on remote learning and technology resources.
