From Wertman:
- Our second safety and leadership session concludes today. The third and final session should start by week’s end.
- Mentor program: Please remember to check in with the student you are mentoring in the month of March.
From Alisha:
I put a little shamrock in your mailbox with another staff member name on it. Please write a little sentence about your team member and return it to me in the office. We are showing a little staff love next week
Thanks!
From Kile:
It's time! The teams have been chosen, now you can choose the winner. Go to http://sdolwick.mayhem.cbssports.com, login and fill out your bracket. This year, I am allowing up to two brackets per person. You have double the chances to win.
Brackets need to be filled out by Thursday (3/16) at noon to be entered into the fun.
If you haven't joined in the fun yet, you have until noon on Thursday to do it.
The #1 seeds are Villanova (last year's champion), Kansas, Gonzaga, and North Carolina. Good luck!

ModernEyes
Thanks to many of you taking advantage of our VISION discount program w/ ModernEYES Optical at Chelsea Square on Manheim Pike in Lancaster. Since this program started, our faculty and their families have saved over $19,900 on their eye exams and eyeglasses at ModernEYES Optical AND 43 OF OUR STUDENTS IN NEED HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET FREE EYE EXAMS and/or EYEGLASSES (valuing over $8,300).
Just a reminder, ModernEYES is locally owned & operated and the program is called No Child’s VISION Left Behind (the brochure is attached), where you and your household receive a 20% discount on your eye exams and glasses at ModernEYES just by showing your school ID. Every time you or someone in your family buys their eyeglasses at ModernEYES, it helps us earn vouchers for FREE eye exams AND FREE glasses for our students that need glasses but can not afford them.
You can visit www.MEoptical.com to book your eye exam online or call them at 717-299-0925. Overall, ModernEYES’s No Child’s VISION Left Behind program has been able to help over 400 local students in need. We are hoping that we can help more and more of our own students. The District receives free vouchers for our students, but in order to get more vouchers in the pipeline, more SDOL employees need to take advantage of the program. Either Erin Conahan or the owner of ModernEyes would be happy to come to your building and discuss this great partnership with all your building staff. You can contact Erin Conahan, if you would like additional information. The attached brochure highlights the program.
