Going wild about wildlife
Year Four Visit Thorp Perrow Arboretum
The Year 4s had a fun filled learning extravaganza on Wednesday and were incredibly lucky with the weather! They began their day as nature detectives during which they saw: coal tits, pheasants, ducks, ground beetles, slugs, worms and even evidence of a fox. They then made their way to the mammals' centre and saw wallabies, meerkats, goats and more. After this they were able to meet Colin, no the caretaker didn't come on the visit, it was an owl!
There was time for lunch in the sunshine, after which the children had an excitable ten minutes on the play area, and a child was overheard exclaiming, "This is the best day ever!" A bird of prey display was then enjoyed which involved being wowed by the harrier hawks' aerobatics.
Sadly the day came to an end and the children felt it had passed so quickly many were talking about trying to come back to see more. The children walked over 16.000 steps and were a joy to take. A big thank you goes to Dr Cassell and Mrs Feather for accompanying them on the trip. Everyone had a great time!
