Mockingjay Movie Release Party, November 20th
The BMS Library offered a Mockingjay reading incentive by holding a party to celebrate the release of the Mockingjay part 2 movie in November. Students took a trivia quiz about the book via QR code and Google form.
Istation
The Library has been instrumental in facilitating the administration of Istation ISIP tests in ELA and Math across the grade levels at Barton. We assisted with testing and provided library computers/iPads as a testing space.
I attending additional training October 14th to learn about campus management and reports.
Banned Books Week
Lessons presented to all attending 6th, 7th, and 8th grade ELA classes about Banned Books Week during the first 2 full weeks in October. We discussed censorship, the history of banning books, and Constitutional rights guaranteed to Americans.
BMS Fall Book Fair
Book Fair was held during the first week in November. It was very successful. We earned a cash profit of $533.46, took lots of good books from the fair for the library, and still have about $95 in Scholastic dollars to use for our Reading Incentive program rewards.
What went well and what we still need to work on...
Successes
- Battle of the Books team organized, co-sponsored by Christopher Fleming
- A/V storage room cleaning - about 90% done
- Moved Cardiel's workspace to the workroom to provide quiet space for test-reading job
- Makerspace plan in progress
Challenges
- iPad/Lab reservation procedures with teachers (ongoing)
- High numbers of overdue books
