Mrs. Hines' Class
Friday, November 21st
Wow! We have worked hard this week. 5th graders quickly worked their way through finishing a unit multiplying decimals and began taking Acuity B assessments. Students have amazed me with their hard work this week as we tackled these big tasks.
In class this week we:
- Finished Multiplying decimals
- Developed a thesis statement and continued our free choice arguments
- Continued our historical fiction unit and discussed the big ideas and made inferences
- Learned about early settlements such as New Spain, Jamestown, and Massachusetts Bay Colony
Thank you to everyone who was able to come support Line Creek at McDonald's night!
Please return the signed permission slip no later than Tuesday, November 25th. If you would like to attend this trip, please return the volunteer letter with the permission slip. Everyone who has volunteered will be able to attend this trip. Information will be coming later about your specific job assignment.
The trip is on Tuesday, Dec. 16th. Parent volunteers will need to be in Blue Springs by 8:20 for training. Students will depart from Line Creek by 9:00 and return to school around 2:30.
Line Creek's Annual Holiday Extravaganza is Saturday, December 6th. 5th grade is scheduled to perform at 9 am. Tickets for the pancake breakfast can be purchased in advance for $5 or at the door for $6 each. Everyone is encouraged to attend and perform!
PTA is organizing a silent auction, with each classroom donating a themed basket. Our class theme is games.
Sharpen the Saw!
The world needs to know your inner artist! Choreograph a dance, produce a film, write a poem or story, compose a song, take a picture or create a piece of visual art and tell us your interpretation of the theme: “The world would be a better place if…”
Pick up a PTA Reflections Entry Form today from the office and return by December 1, 2014.
The entry form will come home with your child on Monday.
