Harvey Dunn Elementary - Important Dates to Remember for Families 2020-21
Principals Corner
Hello Harvey Dunn Elementary Families,
It is hard to believe that Parent/Teacher Conferences are right around the corner! Parent/Teacher conferences are a great time for teachers and parents to connect, for teachers to share students' academic progress, and for parents to share information about the students' strengths, needs, and learning styles.
Fall conferences will be offered to parents and be held virtually for the Fall of 2020 for all SFSD students. You should receive an email from your child's classroom teacher which will allow you to choose a time for a conference. You will have the option of a Google Meet/Zoom conference, or a phone call. The links for the Specials teachers are below if you would like to schedule a conference to visit with Art, Music, PE or Library as well.
Our staff is looking forward to connecting with you and your child on their progress as we work to create strong partnerships between school and home.
All the best,
Mrs. Chamberlain, Principal
Parking Lot Guidelines and Reminders
- The “drop off zone” is marked on the map (1st curve up to the flagpole/crosswalk). This is for quick student drop off. Please pull ahead as far as you can in this zone. It will help keep traffic moving and limit the back up traffic on Bahnson.
- Reminder…the front door will open at 7:30am. All students will come into the building and go right to breakfast or to their classroom this year and not play outside. Playground doors will open at 7:40. Please do not drop students off prior to 7:30 as there is no supervision and the building is not open.
- If you have to get out of your car, you must use the parking lot parking spaces. You will need to walk your student across circle drive (using a crosswalk) to insure they safely get to the sidewalk.
- The parking lot roads are marked on the map. These are only to be used if you are going to park in a parking spot. Please do not forego the circle drive line by using these two roads. When everyone is pulling forward and dropping students of quickly, we anticipate drop off will go smoothly, even in inclement weather. Please be patient as everyone is in a hurry.
- Lane 2 is the lane to use after your student has exited your car. When everyone is pulling up as far as they can, there should be no reason anyone needs to pass using this lane.
- Lastly, please be considerate of others as you drop your student(s) off at Harvey Dunn. We are all here for the same reason…the Students! By following these simple guidelines during drop off, you are helping your child to start the day in a positive and safe manner.
Thank you for all you do to support Harvey Dunn staff and students!
