Hello, Schweitzer families.
Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year! We have been working hard to gear up for the school year. Floors are cleaned and waxed, classrooms are wiped down from top to bottom, and teachers and staff are gearing up to head back to the classrooms after some much needed rest and relaxation.
This newsletter includes important information for you to prepare for a successful 2022-2023 school year. Please read through carefully!
- Summer Learning
THERE IS STILL TIME!!
Please have your child(ren) participate in the Summer Canvas Course, complete minutes on iReady in math and reading, and participate in our Summer Reading Challenge. These activities will not only help your child(ren) be more successful in the coming school year, but they will help engage your child over the remaining days of summer and encourage the love of reading! Remember that children can earn badges and rewards for completing modules in the summer Canvas course. All the information for the Summer Reading Challenge, Book lists, and math practice are below as a reminder. - Teacher Assignments
Students and parents are eagerly waiting to here who their homeroom teacher is for the 22-23 school year. Homeroom assignments will be available August 17th in Home Access. Parents, this is a good time to check to make sure your contact information is accurate in the system. If you need to update any information, please contact Mrs. Belinda Halikias at 215-809-6380 or bhalikias@neshaminy.org. - School Supply Lists

Summer Reading Challenge

Summer is here, and our Neshaminy Reading and Math Specialists have prepared some awesome lists and activities to keep our students engaged as they enjoy their break. The District Reading Specialists have posted suggested reading lists for every grade with an emphasis on choice giving students the opportunity to find enjoyable reading material that their matched their interest and reading style.
The summer math units are designed to build grade-level proficiency and remediate learning gaps. Students in Grades K-6 can complete weekly lessons online using iReady My Path as well as complete optional math packets designed to introduce them to concepts they will be learning in each grade level.

AHERA Notice
Neshaminy School District has engaged Eagle Industrial Hygiene Assoc., Inc., to fulfill the requirements of the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), 40 CFR Part 763, Subpart E. This law requires that each Local Education Authority (LEA) engage EPA accredited individuals to initially inspect and subsequently reinspect every three years all student and staff accessed areas for the presence of both friable and non-friable asbestos containing materials (ACM) and to develop an Asbestos Management Plan from the information developed from the building inspections. All areas of our facilities were inspected for asbestos containing materials.
The Management Plan provides a description of the amount, type, location and condition of all ACM found in these areas. The Plan also contains a detailed schedule of responses and activities for handling the ACM. The Management Plan is available for review by interested parents, faculty and staff in all school offices during business hours.
