PENNIES FOR SHOES - MAYOR'S CHILDREN'S FUND
It is time for our annual fundraiser for PENNIES FOR SHOES! The pennies you contribute help to provide shoes for under-privileged kids in Olathe as part of the Mayor’s Children's Fund. Last year our school community generously raised $38,525.36 to help support the needs of our community. Let’s raise enough money to buy more shoes for kids in our community! Look for opportunities to find a home for all those lonely coins you have with no real purpose in life. Help them find a home and give them purpose. Consider donating your loose change and check between your car seats and couch cushions for that always elusive Abe Lincoln we need so much. We have a jug in our main hallway just waiting to hold those spare pennies! We will be collecting pennies (any change for that matter) until December 9th. Thank you for your contribution to a great cause!
NEWS FROM NURSE NOLL...
As you are probably aware, there are a lot of germs going around this time of year. Some schools have been seeing symptoms of norovirus (nausea and vomiting), which is not killed by hand sanitizer. Only thorough hand washing with warm water and soap (20 seconds) will help us avoid this virus. Please view this fun video and consider watching it with your child to reinforce the message that consistent and correct hand washing keeps us all well!
NORTHVIEW PBIS - CAN YOU HELP US?
Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is how we teach, practice, and become really good at POSITIVE BEHAVIORS. We have two focus areas right now, the bathrooms and the lunchroom.
In the past month, our bathroom behaviors have been a bit short of positive. Some of the issues have been splashing the water at each other and the surrounding area, towels all over the floor and stalls, locked stalls, and worse yet, missing the toilet altogether. Staff are in the process of reteaching bathroom expectations and practicing as a whole group. Nurse Noll helps some of our students that are struggling with bathroom expectations too. Of course, our main focus is rewarding students when they are practicing good hygiene and bathroom manners!
No matter what the age/grade, could you also help by asking your child(ren) what is expected in the bathroom and if they need help? Thank you so much!

FIRST ANNUAL HOLIDAY MART!
Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 3rd from 10am to 3pm! Please plan to join us for the first annual Northview Holiday Mart! This free, open to the public event, is a great opportunity to get some early holiday shopping done, while also supporting our fellow community members and students. Funds raised will be used for Northview student activities.
We invite any Northview families who make or sell goods or services to be among the first to purchase booth space at the Holiday Mart. Northview families also receive preferred pricing of $30 if registered before September 30, 2022! After this date, the price will increase to $40. We will reserve spaces on a first come/paid, first served basis and will only allow one vendor per business (i.e: we will only have one Scentsy rep, one Pampered Chef rep, etc.). Applications are available by sending an email to northviewholidaymart@gmail.com Once applications are submitted and reviewed, payment can be made by sending in a check (made out to Northview PTO) or cash to the Northview office or online with the instructions to follow application approval.
Vendor Fees:
- Booth space rental (10x10): $30 (before September 30, 2022) $40 after deadline
- Table rental: $10
- Electrical outlet (limited number available): $5

OPS EQUITY HOTLINE
Olathe students deserve and should expect equity and inclusion in our schools. Students experiencing instances of inequity are encouraged to report incidents and events where they feel inequity exists so that district personnel are aware and can follow up. Olathe Public Schools has established the OPS Equity Hotline Number. Students and parents may call this number to report incidents they feel need the awareness and attention of district officials. The number is 913-780-7995.
Individuals may also email the office of Diversity and Engagement directly. Click here to email diversity@olatheschools.org.
