NATIONAL CHILD IDENTIFICATION KITS
From Department of Instruction: We are excited to let you know that Alliant Energy, the Green Bay Packers, the Department of Justice, and the Department of Public Instruction have teamed up to provide every learner in Wisconsin with a National Child Identification Kit. The kit is a gift of safety that is hopefully never needed. But in the event of a missing child, the kit helps to provide law enforcement with vital information. The kits are confidential and are designed to be completed and stored securely at a private residence. The information is only turned over to law enforcement in the event of an emergency.
These kits are being distributed this week at the elementary school so your child should be bringing them home on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week. The kits are available for pickup in the main office at Forest Park Middle School and Franklin High School if you would like to pick one up or ask your child to pick one up. The kits will also be made available at the FPMS and FHS open houses as school starts back up in the fall and at parent-teacher conferences. This is one extra piece of information you can have at the ready in the event it is needed for a family emergency.

Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Ahhhh, the last week of school. For many students there is a great deal of excitement to look forward to! I’m not sure how you feel as a parent or caregiver, for me the summer was always bittersweet. Yes, more time with my family, but my children always craved the social and academic structure that school gave them!
I, too, will miss the social and academic structure that has been a part of my professional life. But what I will miss even more is being in the presence of your children. I’ve seen a number of changes in my 36 years in education in terms of policies, trends, curriculum, funding, teacher training and parent involvement. One thing has been a constant is the children. They come to school with all they have and they do their best and shine to their potential! Some children show their gifts from the start and others are wrapped neatly and it takes some time to reveal all they have to share. So thank you for providing that guidance, care and love to your children-I’ve enjoyed every minute of my brief stint as your child’s principal.
So, just a few housekeeping items for you to consider:
Thursday, June 9th is our Field Day. Please make sure your child is dressed for outdoor action for lots of fun and games-gym shoes are highly recommended. Mr. Campbell has much planned for our students to celebrate the end of the school year. Friday, June 10th will be the rain date if needed.
FRIDAY, June 10th is the last day of school for your child. This is a FULL day of school for 5K-5th grade students. 4K students will follow their usual schedules as well.
Just in case you missed this, here is the link to Franklin Public School District’s literacy resources and here is the FPS link to our math resources sheet if you would like to find more information to support your child at home over the summer.
August 1, 2022, Mrs. Jewel will officially begin her work at Ben Franklin as the principal. You can reach out to her at: steffany.jewell@franklin.k12.wi.us Your children will be in the best of hands!
This might be my final parent and family communication, and even as I step away from Ben Franklin, I will continue to advocate for what is best for all children. Whether through teacher development at the college level or reading to children at my public library there will be a connection to education. I believe in giving back to what has been my life’s work, educating and advocating for children.
Have a fantastic summer!

ATTENTION 5TH GRADE PARENTS
The Wisconsin Student Immunization law requires that all students entering the 6th grade receive a dose of Tdap vaccine. To be compliant with the school law, parents must provide their child’s school with proof of immunization or claim a waiver.
What to do:
Have your child vaccinated with Tdap vaccine if he or she has not already received the vaccine. Record the date of the immunization in the appropriate box on the attached student immunization record, sign the form, and return it to Robinwood. To claim a waiver for health, religious, or personal conviction reasons, follow the instructions on the student immunization record and return the signed form to your child’s school.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
Please click here for Immunization Fact Sheet for Parents.
Please click here for Student Immunization Record form/Waiver.
MOVING OR TRANSFERRING?
If you know that you will be moving in the next few months or attending a different school next year please let the office know as soon as possible. It truly helps with our planning for next year. Please click here for the form and email it to Susan.Behrens@franklin.k12.wi.us.
