Congratulations to Thomas Phillips!
Please help me congratulate Thomas Phillips (11th grade) for being selected to participate in the 5th Annual Georgia Music Educators Association Music Technology Showcase on Friday, January 26, 2024. His multimedia entry, Battle of the Pirate Kings, stop-motion project was selected to be featured at the annual conference.
There were over 100 student submissions from all over the state in various categories. Only 15 were chosen to be featured at the student showcase, and Thomas’ project is the only HS Multimedia work to be featured this year. Each year, the submissions are judged by K12 professionals, post-secondary professionals, ed tech industry leaders, as well as professional producers, performers, and composers in the areas of Musical Content, use of Technology, Creativity & Craft, and Overall Effect.
Thomas is invited to Athens this January to participate in the showcase and will be able to enjoy the “Tech Town” as part of the conference’s Music Technology Exhibit Hall.
Congratulations!
Please congratulate these students on passing the 1st round of GMEA All-State Band auditions (Ethan Ausburn, Jacob Meiring, Cyle Osbourne, Andrew Milevsky). These students worked hard and were tasked with performing 13 memorized scales, a prepared etude, and sight-reading music for the first time with only 30 seconds of preparation (yes, this is a rigorous process). They deserve to be celebrated!
Graduation Date Set
Class of of 2024 will graduate at Gas South Arena on Monday, May 27th, 2024 at 2 pm. Number of tickets and other details will be sent out at a later date.
