Short Avenue IB Learners Strive to Be...

Mr. Lamb's Updates
Happy Weekend Short Avenue Families and Friends!
Week 3 is complete! This was a short week that we filled with as much knowledge, learning, and bonding as possible in 4 days. We will work to do the same with another 4-day week next week. Our Back to School Night on Tuesday was nothing short of impressive. Thank you to my team for your excellent presentations. Thank you to our families for coming out to support your child and to support Short Ave. And another thank you shout out to FoSA for their support throughout the week, at Back to School Night, and on Thursday with the snack sale to support our 5th Grade trip next week.
This weekend we have four days. Friday was a day where LAUSD honors the state of California joining the United States on a day called Admission's Day. Monday, however, is a federal holiday celebrated across our incredible country. Please know that Labor Day celebrates the women and men who campaigned tirelessly for workers' rights in the labor movement of the late 19th century. They fought for many rights including a 40-hour work week, safe work conditions, paid time off, and sick leave. These brave men and women believed there could be no freedom and liberty in this country without economic freedom for the working class. The holiday honors the source of this nation's strength—American workers, unions, and labor leaders. No matter how you decide to celebrate Labor Day 2023, take some time to reflect and pay tribute to all the laborers, past and present, who helped build America and make it the country that it is today.
Thank you all for your continued support. Please enjoy the rest of your weekend.
See you Tuesday!
