WMHS Weekly Information
February 12 - 16
From the Principal's Desk
Zebra Nation,
Happy Super Bowl Sunday!! I hope that you had a great weekend!!
What an awesome RivalZ Week!! Well done Zebra Nation!! THANK YOU to Ms. Hritz, Ms. Niedermeyer, and to our Student Senate for a week filled with pride (WAYNE PRIDE)!!
We had a much better week this past week in reducing our fighting. WMHS will be a safe place for our staff and students to be.... Continue to make good choices. Do not fight! Having an issue with another student? Please see a trusted adult in the building and let us help to support you, the situation, and run restorative sessions to diffuse the situation. You got this! We got you! #StrongerTogether
Our WMHS Black Student Union is running a Black History Spirit Week this week. Please see the day-to-day details below in the weekly information.

*Mid-Winter Break: starts after school on Friday, February 16. We will be off of school February 19-23. We return to school on Monday, February 26, which is the last week in February.

WEEKLY THOUGHTS:
- Two Types of Goals
- 'Short Term'. Examples = Earn a 'B' on the next science test. Or earn an 'A' on my next social studies project.
- 'Long Term'. Examples = Help complete a community service project. Or raise my GPA. Or make the soccer team.
- Be S.M.A.R.T. when setting your Goals
- S = Specific. What exactly do you want to accomplish?
- M = Measurable. How will you know when you meet your goal?
- A = Attainable. Is it possible to reach your goal within your timelines? What steps are need to reach your goals?
- R = Relevant. Why is your goal important? Why do you want to accomplish this goal?
- T = Timely. How long will it take to achieve your goal?

- Attention current 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students: The window to add your course requests for next school year is open until Sunday, February 4. Go into Student Connect and select next year's track to add course requests. All scheduling resources can be found on zebracounseling.net under Scheduling including graduation requirements, course descriptions, tutorials on how to add classes in Student Connect, and an AP Contract if you want to take an AP class next year. After the window closes on the 4th, you will meet with your counselor for a one on one meeting to go over your selections for next year.
- Current Sophomore and Juniors: If you would like to take a Career Tech Course at the William D Ford Career Tech Center next year for the 24-25 school year, you MUST fill out this Google form link https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfEGU9IjKxd-1gMmHSn-nIgXyeadflTdxykK7aJXTXVMnu6sA/viewform. This form is due by February 16th. If you do not fill out this form, you will not be eligible to take a course over at the Career Tech Center for the 24-25 school year.. Please make sure to give two options for the Career Tech Center on the Google form as some classes are in HIGH demand.
- Seniors: The FAFSA is open. You will have a very short window of opportunity to complete this. This year changes have been made to make the FAFSA easier to complete. Gather the items that you need now. You will need to gather tax returns from last year. You will want to start gathering income documentation (ex. child support if you receive any - you will want to get those totals). Student and parent(s) will each need the FAFSA ID which you can get now. Visit StudentAid.gov/fsa-id/create-account/launch to create an FSA ID. You'll need your Social Security number, full name, and date of birth. You'll also need to create a memorable username and password, and complete challenge questions and answers so you can retrieve your account information if you forget it.
