A Note from the Teacher
Wow! This 1st week back has gotten away from me. I am back into the swing of things. My daughter is back in Virginia and my 2 sons are back to college. I enjoyed our time together but it's always hard when they all leave again. I hope you all had a relaxing and healthy break.
It is going to be a very busy week next week. I hope you all received Mrs. Bauer's newsletter concerning Riley's week. There are lots of fun activities. Each activity is voluntary. If your child does choose to participate he/she will need to bring in $1.00 for each activity except the freezer pop is only $.50.
MONDAY:
- pajama day
- free-throw money due
- coloring contest money due (your child will receive the coloring sheet and it must be turned in Thursday to be included in contest)
TUESDAY:
- VSCO Girl/EBOY or Superhero/Disney Day
Wednesday:
- Hat Day
THURSDAY:
- Summer in the Winter Day
- $.50 freezepop
- Coloring contest due
Friday:
- Dress like your 100 years old.
- 100th day of school!!
Thanks for donating to a great cause. My son was at Riley's for a week when he was 9 months old. Scariest time in my life but the entire staff at Riley's is so very wonderful!

Math Fact Practice Tips:
- Practice nightly with your child. Right now we use the counting up or counting down strategy. I will be introducing touch math this week. This was included in your orientation material. As the facts get higher we will be using doubles to help figure out tougher problems. EX. If you know 7 + 7 = 14 then you also know what 7 + 8 would be 1 more (15). I will also be teaching the 9's by making a 10 by taking one from the lower number. Ex. 9 + 7 becomes easier when you think of 10 + 6.
- Please do not encourage the use of fingers.
- Please have your child practice one time over the weekend.
- There is a great app. called Math Drills you could try with your child.
- I included the link to math-drills below to print off practice sheets. We allow 5 seconds for each problem.
