FVE NEWS
May 2022
Dear Frontier Valley Families,
As the school year comes to a close, I want to acknowledge my gratitude for everyone’s contributions in making this year the best it could be. Together we’ve learned much and shared experiences that will remain with us for years to come. The strength of our community and the passion to make our school a wonderful place of learning for our children truly makes Frontier Valley a special place for all of us!
We would like to extend a special thank you to all of our volunteers that have helped out in a variety of ways. We appreciate the support in our classrooms, FVEA events, our Watchdog dads, donations for events, food for staff, service on committees, enrichment for our students, and supporting our school in a multitude of ways to help our kids grow. For these, and many other things, we are truly grateful!
For those that are graduating 5th grade, we want to wish you the best on your journey to middle school. We know that you are prepared, and will represent our school well. We want you to remember that you are always a part of our HERD. Congratulations buffaloes!
Cheerfully,
Kiersten

COUNSELOR'S CORNER
Dear FVE Families,
Please take this brief school counseling end-of-year survey so I can work to improve my school counseling program for next year. Thank you for all your support this year! I have really enjoyed getting to know all our students and their families.
I will be offering SEL tutoring at FVE over the summer, so please reach out if you are interested. Session topics will be based on the needs of each student but they may include social skills, calming strategies, executive functioning, and problem solving.
This month our classroom SEL lessons are focusing on reflecting on everything we learned and how much we have grown this year. For 5th graders, we are focusing on the transition to middle school.
Families of 5th graders: Colts Corral is a summer transition program for incoming 6th graders and students new to Cimarron Middle School. Three sessions are offered: July 6-8, July 11-13, and July 18-20. The cost to attend is $80. To register and for more information click here.
I Matter: Free Counseling Sessions for Colorado Youth
The I Matter program provides up to six free counseling sessions for any Colorado youth. Youth and their parents can visit the I Matter platform to take a confidential online survey about their mental health and schedule sessions with a licensed behavioral health clinician, primarily via telehealth.
Check out the Counselor’s Corner for parent resources and more!
