WHO?

My name is Skylar Hunt, I am a nuclear physicist. I work at the Phoenix Nuclear lab.

WHAT/WHERE?

My colleagues and I have discovered a way to use nuclear fusion as an energy source. We discovered this in our lab in Phoenix.

WHEN?

In 1934, we discovered how to use nuclear fusion as an energy source.

WHY?

My colleagues and I knew the world needed another clean energy source, so we tried many different things. We figured out nuclear fusion was something to try, so we tried and succeeded.

HOW?

Since fusion reactions require very high temperatures, in the hundreds of millions, which is to hot to be contained by any solid chamber, we sought to contain the hot plasma with magnetic fields.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NUCLEAR FUSION AND FISSION

Nuclear fusion is a nuclear reaction, which requires an atomic nuclei, of a low atomic number, to fuse with another atomic nuclei and form a heavier nucleus creating energy. Nuclear fission is when an atom splits into two parts, it splits either through natural decay or when split in a lab. Once the atom has been split, it releases energy.

SAFTEY

There have been many studies on if nuclear fusion is safe and sustainable. There have been many results that nuclear fusion is a very safe and sustainable energy source. Nuclear fusion power does not produce any greenhouse gasses or other atmospheric pollutants either. The fuel consumption in a fusion power station is extremely low

IMPACT

Nuclear fusion can give the world another non-polluting energy source, other than fossil fuels. If humans keep using fossil fuels at this rate, the world will be filled with greenhouse gases, even if the world tries to stop fossil fuels from being used.
