Our Promise
Every student in Dallas School District is known by name, strength, and need, and graduates ready for career, college, and community.
It takes Heart!
We joke often about the week that is upon us. It's no secret that there is a different energy this time of year.
I ran into a blog post, by George Couros this weekend that I believe highlights a perspective on caring that is needed in general in our work but is a good reminder especially as we head into this exciting week.
In his post, George references a piece that he read by Leslie Kinard about heart, these are her words:
"It takes heart to lead. Whether you lead in your classroom or in the building, it takes heart to make the right decision — that always seeks to put students first.
It takes heart to give indiscriminate second chances- -understanding that often those who need them most seem the least deserving.
It takes heart to have the courage to stand against those who jokingly disparage students hiding behind burnout and a lack of care for our students, our prized treasure.
Heart makes you pursue your passion and share it with students.
Heart makes you wish you could do more.
Heart keeps you coming back to those students, those smiles, those books, those emails, those challenges and those sweet, sweet successes.
In one word, it takes heart to change the world."
Thanks for all that you do, and I wish you a wonderful Holiday Season!
Glad you're here!

Celebrate!
12/12/19 - No Lesson Today - Our Character Strong Team felt that given the day, a lesson might get lost due to the excitement, so instead we encourage you all to take time to celebrate with our kids!
WOOP!
Though I probably sounded nervous for her, I asked her several times if she was sure she wanted to recite in front of 700 people. She was not deterred by my awkwardness but instead assured me she would be ready.
It took an amazing amount of courage to volunteer, but even more to deliver. I am just sorry that not everyone could hear her, so I have provided her poem. Really proud of her!
You all are making a difference!
